#2 Rib and Cervical Neck fractured

Feb 06, 2018 2:32 PM

Was hit by a truck while crossing the street May 2017.. went to work in end of August n had to quit in November due to my fractures really hurting. Since November I’ve been back in my neck brace and my rib is in a lot of pain. I’ve never fractured nor broken any bones before. Is this typical to be back in my brace n hurting this bad still? I was told 6-8 months approximately to heal. I worry that I’m just being a baby about it but..

I've never broken a rib or my neck. I have broken my ulnar bone and schaphoid bone (in the wrist). My wrist fractures happened in 2015 and healed in 3 weeks with a cast. It is now 3 years later and I still experience off and on pain that requires the use of a wrist brace. I would suggest you ask your doctor about getting a referral to an orthopedic surgeon because they specialize in fractures and would be the best specialist to ask about recovery times and other things.

I had a bad neck injury while using a water slide several years ago. I had extreme pain for about 2 years after it.
I still get lots of pain from it more than 20 years later, sometimes very painful somes mild, but always there.

Took me 8 months in a cast but it was from my C-spine fused all the way to L-2. Is water therapy an option for you? That helped me tremendously. Nice warm pool to loosen the muscles then do your therapy under water using the water for resistance. Just a thought.
