1 year of pain - no diagnosis

Apr 13, 2016 9:49 PM

April 2015My pain started after I had a injury that was my upper left thoracic "stuck" in my rib according to an osteo. I went to a chiro who after a while of treatment didn't know what was wrong, by this time the pain had travelled into low back, hip, sacrum.

I started physio and osteo ..... I'm still there. My pain is all over ... I use a muscle , it tightens. Currently I have pain and tightness along the spinal column, a few different points are really bunched up, mid back mainly. I get a burning when I sit down. It band is tight, hip flexor safe better but not great . Nothing seems to help, and. No one knows what's wrong - scans show nothing, X ray nothing , CRP 3mg.... Drawn a blank. I'm 33 female. Can anyone recommend anything I take supplements - tumeric etc, teach yoga , do Pilates , walk in water.... It's just Redic no one knows what's happening to me

I'm sorry to hear that you're in pain. I very much understand what it's like to fight pain for a long time without getting any answers. It's been 4 years for me and I'm also experimenting with different supplements and lifestyle changes. So far, I've noticed that I have less pain when I eat vegetarian and try to lower my stress level (which is no simple task).

Sorry I'm not much more help, but I'm kind of in true same boat as you. Hugs 💜

What about fibromyalsia? That is how it started for me. Hips and buttocks. So bad I could not continue working. Have they tried any treatments for that?

Hello, I'm commiserating with you here. It took many very long years and docs before they began to find my dx's. But there have been great advancements in recent years. There's hope in that and good support here. If bet that most here have significant pain and other life changing Sx. Keep chatting & reading.

Ninar, welcome! I'm so sorry you are fighting an unknown assailant on your body. I've been there too, and the waiting is awful. I started with symptoms of fatigue and pain, with elevated inflammation in my bloodwork (2007-2008). In 2010 they removed a large mass, which required major repairs (5 in 1 surgeries). We all thought after 6 mos is be healed and return to work. Two years later I was dx with fibro; 2011 pelvic floor dysfunction & pelvic congestion syndrome; 2015 sjogrens, hypothyroidism, dementia/memory loss, tremors, imagine & more. It seems many of us go a long time without a dx, and then once one dx is found we start getting others. I know how hard it is to wait.

Document every symptom, no matter how trivial you think it might be: when it starts, how long it lasts, if anything you did before triggered it, if anything you did after helped lower or get I'd of it, etc. Do this daily. And take it to every doctor you see. Getting a dx is like putting puzzle pieces together, and so many different dx share so many common symptoms; my fibro, sjogrens & hypothyroidism for instance. So the more you can be detailed the easier it can be for the docs to hopefully dx you sooner. Use the charting in the CMP & Pain Companion apps to do this. If a descriptive words isn't in the list to choose from, type & add it.

What type docs have you seen besides the chiropractic doc & primary care? One member said they've found the best internal med who helps with everything. That would be awesome! But many of us, me included, have multiple specialty team of docs; PCP, rheumy, endocrine, psych, Urology, Gastrology, Opthalmology, etc. You're in my prayers that the docs will soon find out and bring you relief! Hugs!! 🙂💕🙏🌼

Ninar
Have they checked your vitamins and minerals in the blood?
They found my vitamin D2 was low enough to almost hospitalize me. Got on the right vitamins and minerals helped with FBS

Ninar I have nerve root damage and with that it jerks my whole body around. I feel all of you. I wish we could find what causes the bone spurs an stones to develop in soft tissues as well as the root cause of the inflammation that leads to this.

I have been dealing with my pain for around 14 years. I've recently been diagnosed with sacroiliac ankylosing spondylitis. There still hasn't been any pain relief. The doctors don't want to give me norcos which are the only thing so far to give me some relief (not all), but I was on neurotin, robaxin, Motrin, and cymbalta and told the doctor yesterday I no longer want to take them as I feel they don't help my pain nor do they fix the real problem. I don't want to take 4 different meds 4 times a day when they do nothing for my body. However, I do know ppl shop swear by then also. Good luck to u, I can completely relate!

Try Vicopren..it's hydrocodone with ibuprofen. Better alternative, that brings the count down to two meds four times a day

I've never heard of those, that would be fantastic; but the doctors where I live rarely prescribe any narcotic pain meds. Sadly, they are punishing ppl that are truly in pain and take them as prescribed due to the new heroin epidemic.

It is an older narcotic...honestly it works very well for me... And no acetaminophen! Ask your doc. Tell him you would like to try it, as you have researched it.

I will, thank you! The less meds the better!

I had a diagnosis of osteoarthritis in L4/l5 and some damage to Sij right side ligaments (we think) I don't know how I feel about this . Hypermobile was also diagnosed and an explanation of over sensitive immune and nervous system in hyper mobile makes things feel worse than we see on the scan. I have swelling in facet joints in lumbar but previous specialist wasn't bothered by this as I had low CRp. Any ideas?
