15 year pain suddenly worse

Sep 14, 2015 1:32 AM

I have been a pain sufferer for 15 years after a multiple roll over mva that broke my neck and caused other damage. I have always suffered even as a child from insomnia which doesnt help. Last week I attended a pain clinic hopeful that a recent ongoing flare from a injury to my leg would get treatment, the best I can describe it is bugs with razor blades skiing on my left thigh, it used to be only like that when clothing rubbed against it but worsened when I started having stress seizures that my dr thinks is being caused by pain levels overwealming my system. However no one seems to want to change my treatment to assist the worsening of my condition. I am currently on lyrica, jurnista, valium, serequel and a limited amount of panadiene per fortnight. What suggestions can I make to my dr? Is gabopentin really that successful? What are the side effects. Im not after a high im after a pain free day and am sick of being treated as a drug seeker when all I want is a normal life....im so frustrated.

Talamasca, I'm sorry you suffered such a traumatic injury with chronic pain. I was given gabapentin but they took me off it temporarily before I could get use to it. I've got tremors, dizziness, & imbalance and they don't want it conflicting with trying to diagnose my symptoms. Many here have had good results and advice on the gabapentin and other meds like it. I'm sure you'll here from them soon. My pain clinic doc is awesome help getting my spinal pain under control but it took 2 years of epidural steroid injections (ESI's). Be patient while your pain doc gets your regimen going. Good luck and I'll keep you in my prayers. 🙏🌼
