4 years and I still don't know.

I started experiencing some level of pain when I was 16. I'm now 20 and due to financial and insurance problems I have not been able to reach out to a doctor as to why. Luckily my insurance grants 1 free physical per year, so I'm doing that on July 19th. I just want answers. I want pain meds because OTC meds don't work at all. I can pop 4 ibuprofen at a time and still nothing. I currently rely on heating pads and sheer will. I keep having this nagging feeling in my gut that it's fibro because I tested out the tender points on my body - and OW! Won't self-diagnose though. Just so frustrated. Had to give up a job opportunity at a horse boarding facility because my pain would keep me from cleaning stalls. I used to ride, too, and I can't do that anymore. It's so maddening!

Unfortunately you will probably need to see a rheumatologist for diagnose. Not much they do for you but diagnose. After that either your pcp or pain clinic will help with pain. I suggest your pcp. I had my rheumatologist send her recommendations to my pcp that way I just need to see 1 doctor. Also pain clinics didn't do anything for me.

Good luck I hope you find what is going on soon.

Hey, I'll see whoever I have to for a Dx lol. Just the copays for specialists... $55 per visit. Only $30 for a PCP. So hopefully I can do what you're doing and keep seeing my PCP. If I explain my financial situation I'm sure I can. Sadly my PCP is so popular at the outpatient facility I go to that I might have to switch unless I want to schedule months ahead.
