A cool tip for restless leg syndrome I hope will be helpful to some.

Apr 07, 2016 2:32 PM

If any of you struggle with restless leg syndrome as I have. Someone told me about this and I never thought in a million years it would work but it does. I haven't had the problem while in bed since. Put a bar of soap at the foot of your bed under the fitted sheet. Any old bar of soap will do. It works like a charm to completely stop the restless leg syndrome.

I have restless leg syndrome my medication is working but I am intrigued...why does the bar of soap work?

Apr 07, 2016 3:30 PM

I have no idea why it works. I just know from experience that it does.

Apr 07, 2016 4:35 PM

That's really cool, I will have to try that! Thank you for the tip!

Oooh! I have a few friends and relatives with restless leg syndrome. I'll have to tell them! :)
I'm glad you found something that works Gibber
Gentle hugs

You're welcome ucandoit! Let me know if it helps. I'll be curious.

Thanks Tired and in pain. I hope it helps them. Let me know!

Apr 07, 2016 10:33 PM

Okay...I'm trying this tonight. Gotta find out. But I'm curious how?!?!

Apr 07, 2016 10:55 PM

I hope it helps. If it doesn't help the first night don't give up on it. I think it helped me right away but it's hard to tell since I didn't have it every night. Let me know how it goes!

I no longer tuck my bedding in at the foot of the bed.
It's off to bed with my soap 💤

Apr 08, 2016 12:23 AM

What a great tip? Can you describe to me what restless leg syndrome feels like? I'm curious if that's what I'm feeling or not.

Apr 08, 2016 12:31 AM

For me: tight, ripping pain, cramping, pins and needles +++, spasms, grabbing pain. Usually at bedtime or if I am tired or worn out its worse.

Apr 08, 2016 12:33 AM

Oh okay. That's nothing like what mine feels like. Thank you.

Apr 08, 2016 7:25 AM

Oh! I'll have to try this when mine acts up! Thanks Gibber! I'll let you know if it works as I'm curious now lol!!!

Apr 08, 2016 8:25 AM

Cdn. Mine feels different it's a weird uncomfortable nerve pain. I have to move to stop it. It can so intense it's excruciating. It's hard to describe. Is that what yours is like?

Apr 08, 2016 8:28 AM

I'm kind of giggling. I've got everyone going to bed with soap. I really hope it helps. I was so relieved to find that such a crazy suggestion worked for me. I haven't had it at all since the soap has been there.

Apr 08, 2016 12:26 PM

Cdn mine is uncontrollable leg twitching that shakes the whole bed. As I have fibro and spine issues hard to know for sure if it hurts. The defined meaning is basically irresistible urge to move legs.

Apr 08, 2016 12:32 PM

Exactly it's such a weird feeling. It's actually nerve pain but different then pain.

Apr 08, 2016 8:40 PM

Yep, Beets described it very well!

What type of soap dontou use? I just googled it and it says not to use five or disk? My mom has it so bad to the point she cried. Anything to help her would be amazing.

Apr 09, 2016 8:10 AM

I've never heard if five or disk. Just bar of soap. I just found the cheapest one and stuck it under and it worked.

Apr 09, 2016 10:41 AM

I didn't get to check in yesterday but I tried it and it did seem to help some I think. But I woke up so exhausted slept most of the day yesterday. Could be a fibro flare issue though.

Apr 09, 2016 10:53 AM

That's great that you think it helped!

Apr 09, 2016 4:46 PM

I ment dove or dial not five or disk sorry

Apr 09, 2016 8:29 PM

I used Ivory or dove. You want something "pure" and white, not overly perfumed or clear.
My rls is sometimes burning soles, sometimes I feel like I'm marching or kicking. My Fitbit does show I'm taking several hundred "steps" during the night!

Apr 09, 2016 9:34 PM

Blaze..haha autocorrect. For me it doesn't make a difference if it's pure, or scented/ coloured.

Apr 14, 2016 6:53 PM

I tried this and the very first morning I woke with horrible foot and leg cramps. Didn't dare try it again, but my Mom swears by it.
I use a rolling pin to massage legs taught to me by physical therapist. Rolling pin with bearings so handle stays same but pin rolls. Those marble ones probably won't work for this! Using whatever pressure is comfortable roll from ankle to knee about 5 times, continue around leg, always rolling up towards heart. Then do same for upper legs, knee to groin. This works great for me. I get all over restless, very uncomfortable and just doing legs will stop it. If I am at work or out and I start to feel it I just vigorously rub my legs and it helps.

PrincessChaos, Which Fitbit do you have? I have the original that you clip on a belt or waistband. I need one like yours! Lol 😉

Jul 12, 2016 9:36 PM

I don't understand how you use the bar of soap, and I am very curious! Do you press your feet against the soap?

Jul 12, 2016 9:40 PM

Nope just put it under your fitted sheet at the foot of your bed that's it. It works like a charm.

Jul 12, 2016 9:42 PM

Awesome let me know how it goes. It's been about two years now with that bar of soap and never had the problem since.
