dbgiggles, first of all, I would like to say welcome and I'm sorry for the pain you are suffering. How can the doctor say a TENS Unit won't work if you haven't used one?? There are many different kinds. I am 50, been in horrible pain for 22 years and have several issues that cause pain including fibromyalgia, degenerative joint disease, degenerative disc disease, CRPS/RSD, cervical spondalytic myelopathy among several other things. Try moist heat on the area that hurts.

Oops!! Hot send too fast!!! Also try warm baths, gentle stretching, biofeedback, meditation, listen to music you can get lost in, etc. there are many folks here that suffer pain here for many different reasons. I am sure there will be others who have suggestions that may work better than mine. I wish you the best of luck and hope you have a peaceful day with less pain. 🌻🙏🏻

You probably have arthritis in your neck and perhaps a lot of muscle tensions from your body naturally trying to protect an injured area. That's how it works with me at least (old horse injury).
TENS may work for you, it may not. I hated the TENS machine, but I know people who swear by it. I like ice or heat and Trolamine Salicylate arthritis cream (yes I lather arthris cream on my neck lol). Docs could give you cortisone shots too. I personally love that arthritis cream (aka Aspercream). I does help my knees and hands too. Its not a cure all but helps me.
Hopefully my suggestion helps. Good luck. <*hugs*>

I put my TENS unit on my shoulders for neck pain and arm pain, and on my back. I have osteoarthritis and it helps me. AlwayZ suggestions are very good alternatives, and I can't think of anything to add, other than get a second opinion. I hope you can find a way to relieve your pain. 🙏🌼
