Amytriptyline Doesn't Work

May 29, 2015 7:48 AM

I've been on the max dose of amytriptyline for 3 months now with doses in the morning and at night and haven't had any improvement.
I regularly take max doses of diclofenac and cocodamol and tramadol hasn't helped either.

Is there others with back and leg pain where amytriptyline hasn't worked but something else has? X rays show my discs are fine and given a diagnosisof bad mechanics causing nerve inflammation. It doesn't take into consideration unexplained pain in other areas in my pelvis and groin.

I want to speak to my doctor next week when I'm due a new prescription what other options I have. Morphine has been mentioned but I really don't want that when I'm due to go back to university in September.

Mofo, you mentioned having pelvic and groin pain. I do too, and I was diagnosed after 3 years with pelvic floor dysfunction & pelvic congestion syndrome. Here are two links regarding these...

http://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases_conditions/hic_pelvic_floor_dysfunction

http://m.hopkinsmedicine.org/vascular/conditions/pelvic/

Read these and see if they might explain some of your pain. You can Google search and find more info. And if you think it applies to you find a Urogynecology doc & Colon surgeon or pelvic floor treatment center. I hope you can find some meds that work better for you. 🙏🌼
