Anti-inflammatory pain meds rec

Jul 22, 2017 3:40 AM

So I made a post a while ago talking about my chronic stomach/stool issues and sense then I've called my mom and she told me that ulcerative colitis runs in the faimly, so I'm thinking it's possible I have a inflammatory issue with my bowels.

I also get recurring mouth ulcers (Not your run of the mill canker cores. They can be from 1/2 to 3 inches long in my mouth, they cover my tounge , very edge of throat, inside of my lips , cheeks, gums) and with that they make my lips swell, give me fevers, make my lymph nodes big and painful and I get alot of sharp pressure in my gut.
I can only assume it's because of inflammation , because ibprophen is the only thing that releves the pain.
Only, my doctor said I should ease off it (I take it daily sometimes if I can't see a doctor for staroids )
And Tylenol only gets rid of the fever, but the really bad pain and swelling stay.
Untill I figure out why my body does this, do you guys have any anti-inflammatory meds that aren't nessiecarily a NSIAD? I'm in so much pain I've barely eaten and moved from the bed. I've also been having some straight up monster poops that are borderline Diereah and it's bloody/mucusy in every bowel movement. So I'm suffering and need some help/suggestions

Hi Punkinz I don't know of any anti-inflammatorys that are not NSIAD but you really need to see a specialist about that and you need advice on how to cope ect I really hope you get it sorted and get the care you need, sending hugs

I have had crones for years and yes you should seek medical help but you might want to try a clear fluid diet to give your bowels a rest

I can't really do that right now, I'm allready dangerously close to being underweight.
I dropped down randomly to 108 pounds and just barely gained up to 112 and that was the last time I was weighed. I've had multiple spats of dierah sense then so who knows if it stayed. 😥

I hope you get medical help soon and take care

That being said tho I'm not eating junk food, mostly lean protien, whole grains, lots of leafy greens and other bowel friendly food

Punkinz I know you said that ibuprofen helps when you can't see your doctor but you really do need to reduce and/or cut it out as it could also be adding to your problems especially when you don't eat before taking it.

Has your doctor prescribed you something to help protect your stomach? Something like omoprazole or lansoprazole?

You should go to see a specialist about your bowel problems especially if you've lost a lot of weight quickly. Has your doctor already put in a referral for you? It's really important for you to see a specialist soon, really soon, your body has already used most of your body fat for energy as you can't eat so soon it'll start breaking down muscles.

The reason you could still be in soo much pain could be because you've had something that's irritated your bowels and now it needs some help to soothe it but I really don't know what would help as it's your bowels so I'm not sure what would help.

I'm sending you positive vibes and warm healing hugs xx

Wow I'm sorry you're in so much pain I also agree you need to see a specialist I have IBS-C some of what you are experiencing sound familiar to that A specialist are you under a Pain Management clinic they "get it"I'm on anti-inflammatory meds muscle relaxer have you talked with your Doctor these things should be managed, best Kwelee

@sezzy: I agree, as much as I want to I haven't touched it unless I'm at work (Wich I only work about 16-20 hours a week because of my health rn) and the pains so bad I can't function without it.
I'm trying really hard to get the doctors to take me seriously, last time I brought up that I think my mouth outbreaks have something to do with my colon/stomach they just suggest muralax/omoparzole(which didn't help at all) and send me on my way with a short bout of Prednisone. (Which does clear it up but only for a few weeks/week at a time.)

I'm getting a female doctor on the 10th of August to see if she'll take me seriously and give me a referral to a specialist. (I use to see a etm specialist but whatever is causing the ulcers in my mouth doesn't actually seam related to my oral health at all.
Thank you so much for the kind words!! Hoping I get a doctor who will take me seriously soon. ❤️

Thank you so much for the condolences! If you have any recommendations on how to get a doctor to refer me to a specialist I would appreciate it. Been in and out of doctors offices sense I was a kid and the most they've done is a single x Ray of my digestive track and some blood test for STDs 😷

Fortunately I have had Doctor's who took me seriously. I came armed I keep a diary of my meds ( doctor's forget) a food diary (so I can pinpoint any changes) and see what I've done differently specially because of my IBS-C And I won't remember ( Fibro fog/Hypothyroid) I want to get it all talked about in that 15 minute visit(pain controls my life I had to have some power) we can get right to it if any meds need to be changed or increased. I'm also in a Pain Management clinic they specialize in pain and how to manage it. Ask your Doctor to recommend a specialist that deals with the problems you are having don't let them shut you down, keep reminding them whenever you have an appointment. That's what I did for me. I had to it's my life. I'm praying and in your cheering section 📣

Punkinz what Kwelee said is right, you need to journal everything....what you eat, what meds you take, where your pain is, the intensity of the pain and how long it lasted at that intensity, what exercise you do, or if you was bed bound.
I might seem daunting to do a diary like this but having it there for the doctors to see actually makes it more real for them (that is if they'll actually read it, I've had a doctor who refused to read it!!!)

Catch the web site for Against All Grains. She has an amazing story of healing her life threatening ulcerative colitis by taking grains from her diet. Other modifications as well. She has 2 cookbooks out. Her story is found on her web site.

Are you taking anything like fiber tablets? With pain meds I'm always constipated so I take fiber pills to help. One time I got some (honestly was in a hurry and grabbed the bottle at the store that looked like my normal one.) fiber pills and about 6 hrs after the first dose I had bloody soft stool, then it just got looser and more bloody. I called the nurse line and she talked to me about a lot of ideas. But, no dizzy, no fever, no to everything. Then she asked if I was taking anything new and I said just the fiber is all. She had me read the ingredients and told me that she was pretty sure this was an allergic reaction to Cromium. I'd never heard of Cromium. Come to find out its a metal your body uses in weight loss. So, long story short, they put cromium in lots of things. The next time it happened was when my daughter shared her monster drink with me. Never would have thought it would be in a drink.
Don't know if you take anything with cromium in it, but it never hurts to look.

I'm so sorry you're having these problems. GI problems are the worst!
1. Are you in any probiotic? I would recommend some research into what ones would be the best.
2. If you're not able to eat much, have you thought about smoothies and protein shakes? They can help your body get its nutrition. Avoid chocolate shakes because that'll worsen the diahhrea.
3. Have you ever had a lower endoscopy to check the conditions of your lower GI tract?
4. Have you ever been scanned for gallstones? I was having a lot of pain and fatty mucus-y stools and come to find out I need my gallbladder removed.

Best of luck!!
