I live in Washington state and I am trying to get disability. I am 24, have two years of college, single mother and I use to work 3 jobs. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, Major depression and Cronic migraines. I am not able to work because of my pain and depression most days I can’t even get out of bed. I don’t know what to do I haven’t been able to work in over a year. I don’t got any family support. I applied for disability and I got denied because of my age and I got schooling. I appealed it and I’m working with a lawyer but I just don’t know what to do
You are right you get punished for education and age. Your best bet is to get disability on your psych issues. However with your age being so you you get money based on what you put in so you would be lucky to get enough to pay rent. Probably 700.00 a month then they take Medicare out of that so maybe 550.00 sad at best. Just keep doing the best you can and know we are all here for you. PM me if you want to talk.
I agree with LMB. I think you have more chances getting through on the psych. Fibromyalgia is a serious disease and our group knows that. And as time goes on, studies will show the severity of it. But doctors and the government as a whole don’t treat it with the respect it deserves. They don’t really appreciate what is involved in a day of a fibromyalgia patient. So many of them get denied. I have seen some cases. In those cases, it has been with the help of the treating doctor who has documented everything that has helped them win. Best wishes to you.
Still have issues? You can do it. I was denied Social Security at 23, reapplied with the judge and fought with him and a "weird" doctor via the phone by myself in a wheelchair almost 2 hours and WON!!! The judge even apologized for not believing me at first and also apologized for the "weird" doctor's rude behavior. It can be done! Did I say, No Lawyer! 😁😁
