Any avid readers?

If so - are you reading anything interesting?

Nov 19, 2016 2:43 AM

I used to love reading but over the last few years with everything that's happened and with my depression I seem to have lost my ability to sit and read.
My favourite books are/was Agnes Grey, Jane Eyre and pretty much all of the novels that the Bronze sisters wrote. The Lord of the Rings trilogy. There was loads more but my mind has gone completely blank!!!! I'll post more as and if I remember!!!!! Lol

I've been an avid reader since I was a child and was doing a BA (Hons) in English and History until the fibro wiped me out. I will read virtually anything although I refuse point blank to read mills and boon or anything too sci-fi. My current favourites are a good old physiological murder/thriller or a gang land thriller ie Chris Carter or Martina Cole 📚📖 x

I am starting to get back into reading which was my hobby as a child to combat loneliness, depression and bullied feelings from others. Now I have set goals for reading and going to the library so I can learn to associate it with positive feelings. Right now I have checked out a biography from the library on one of my favorite people and my goal is to finish it in its entirety in six weeks. The book is about the life of Walt Disney

I have always loved reading. As long as I can remember. My library sees me every three weeks. :) I also joined Book Bub. If you have a kindle it's a great app. No charge and every day I get an e-mail with the bargains for the day in the genre I like. Often they offer free downloads on a few books. I never thought I would enjoy reading online.but you can't beat the price. I love reading new authors but if I don't like them then at least I haven't spent a lot of money on it. Also NetGalley - authors will often give you the chance to read books before they are released. If you, in exchange, will give it an honest review.

I have book bub too and often get books from it. Reading for me is escapism from the fibro for a little while.
I'm going to look into Netgalley Thank you for the tip 😊

Nov 19, 2016 7:08 PM

I joined NetGalley right before my car accident so I have only done a few reviews. Have heard great things about them.

Wattpad is an awesome app for reading. I've read over 200 stories there and they are all free. Some have since been published. I've even assisted with editing for one of the writers.

I absolutely love reading and now that I have the time to just relax in bed or in a warm bath I'm reading a lot more. I'm currently reading the Across The Universe series by Beth Revis.

Books I recommend:
Anything by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Phantom by Susan Kay

Nov 23, 2016 7:49 PM

I have read the entire "scarpetta" series by Patricia Cornwell. There are 22 or 23 books out already and the newest came out in the U.K. before it came out here but will get that one when it comes out as well!!! Awesome series.

Nov 24, 2016 12:48 AM

I read 'teen' books, less sex and big words and I can get through them in one day. Patricia Briggs is good.

Nov 24, 2016 4:05 PM

I LOVE reading, always have. I usually have 2 or 3 books going at the same time (I'm not sure why) but never does a day go by without me getting a few chapters in. Currently reading 'Gone Girl' by Gillian Flynn and 'The Book of Night Women' by Marlon James

Nov 24, 2016 5:42 PM

I ADORE books!!! Currently have not read for pleasure since I am in school for my job, but when I do I read about ghosts, horror, and mystery. Typically Clive Barker/Stephen King... (Reddit - No Sleep junkie). And while trying to find a new horror book I stumbled upon a brilliant writer, her name is Alexie Aaron, who has a haunted series that I literally got sucked into and read in its entirety within the first 3-5 months. Highly recommended!!!

Nov 26, 2016 8:42 AM

Whoever it was that recommended NetGalley I have joined so am looking forward to many more happy hours of loosing myself in a book. Thank you so much 😊

Nov 26, 2016 10:31 AM

I have enjoyed reading ever since I can remember. I really was into horror and sci-if when I was young...Stephen King is still my fav (the man has an amazing imagination!); right now...believe it or not, I'm into Christian novels. I really enjoy reading Francine Rivers. A lady at work keeps me supplied and I have enjoyed reading every word. My faith has grown also. I've even had my 16 year old son read a book or two.

Nov 26, 2016 6:25 PM

love to read! I review on my blog, amazon, Barnes and noble and netgalley...I could offer a list a mile long of recommendations lol

Nov 27, 2016 9:58 PM

Yea! More readers. (smile) mominfl. I joined NetGalley.. Did a few reviews then ended up in a car wreck so couldn't do any for awhile. Wasn't sure how to let the authors know though. I also do reviews on Amazon. Oh.. Back to NetGalley.. The last book I read I really, really hated. Still haven't figured out how to write that review. Lol

Nov 27, 2016 10:00 PM

I'm not much of reader but I LOVE ❤️ audiobooks. It helps me relax when I can't sleep. They are good for doing my compulsory walk and physio at home.
