Really having a hard time with boils and pain.

Sep 28, 2015 1:45 PM

Yes i am , this pain is no fun.... No boils but try heat so hopefully it will burst and give you relief...

Thanks April. I was able to take care of it. It seems to have caused a fibro flare. AnywayI have a doctor's appointment Wednesday hope for some answers.

Nerd, I've been dealing with the boils for many years. Has your doctor ever recommended Hibiclens to you? It takes mine right down to a dull roar along with bactroban in about 3-4 days of once daily use for the Hibiclens and 3 times daily to the area for the bactroban,

No she hasn't I haven't seen her very long. Thanks for the tip. I have dealt with boils a long time too. I am going to show her this site. :-)

Sep 28, 2015 8:51 PM

Good to know I am going to try this and I really thought I was the only one with the boils along with the pain. Thank you

Oct 04, 2015 7:18 PM

Yes both and a bunch of other stuff too! Neurothopy is my biggest concern. I can not have anything touch my feel sometimes the pain used to come and go but this last time it forgot to go. That been at least 2 months ago.

I'm sort of teetering on the edge of diabetes with my fibro. Is boils a common thing with diabetes? I've literally never heard that. Hopefully I can get my diet and supplements to help me not go "full-blown" diabetic, but great, now I have another thing to worry about... 😞

Unfortunately It is a big concern I have Type 2 and when it flares it really hurts. Antibiotics and lancing the boil helps until the next time one pops up again.

Oct 05, 2015 6:55 AM

I have type1 diabetes, fibromyalgia and boils. I just had my boils burst. Yes it is difficult having both fibromyalgia and diabetes. Especially during a prolonged flare when I'm crazy with pain and eating carbs all day. Hang in there. You are not alone.

Nerd lover, I know this might sound absolutely crazy but there is something you can do to get it to burst more quickly. White toothpaste works wonders(NOT the gel kind). I leave a small amount on overnight under a tegaderm dressing and voila, instant relief. Serenity, next time you get one and they lance it,please have them culture it. Not to scare anybody, but those boils can sometimes contain MRSA just so you guys are aware.

Oct 05, 2015 8:18 PM

Yup. I almost died in 2010 from MRSA. Believe me I'm super careful with the boils.

Oct 05, 2015 8:22 PM

I am diabetic with FMS among other things. LOL i'm to the point where I hate going to the doctor because every time I go they find something new wrong with me.

Oct 05, 2015 8:33 PM

Thank you everyone...it is strange that they did not culture it where I have history of MRSA. I will since one flared up again. I am really happy that I finally have a group that truly understands and supports on another.

Oct 06, 2015 7:22 AM

OK....how many of us diabetic/fibromyalgia sufferers have a history of MRSA?

Oct 06, 2015 3:44 PM

Sweetie, I'm not diabetic/have fibro but I do indeed have a history of MRSA if that helps any.

Oct 06, 2015 3:48 PM

Serenity, sometimes they won't culture it again if they know you have a history of MRSA. They never culture mine anymore, but that's just me. If you can and you haven't already, ask about getting a referral to an infectious disease specialist. That was my only option because of multiple antibiotic allergies and when they did the last culture, it was resistant to most, if not all oral antibiotics. Hence, the IV antibiotics for me.

I have Type 2 since 2006,Fibromyalgia since before 2003, I also have a Syrinx with Syringomyelia. I haven't had trouble with boils. I had boils in the early 90's where at one time I had 25 across my abdomen very pain full, after Taki g K flex everytime became resistant last boil was in my rt breast woke up with a 105 temp with my breast twice normal size and blood red. Was put in hospital with moist heating pad, next morning turned black. Went to surgery for IAND D, they left open after washing it out really good, packed with betidine gauze. This happened in Nov and I was on Bactrim until completely healed in Feb. Never had one since, I was dx with. Staff infection. Remember to always clean tub or shower with bleach after so no one else catches it.

And remember to wash your clothes separately with the hottest water the clothing will allow(sheets and towels also). Clean high touch surfaces frequently with bleach or a cleaner that kills MRSA.
