Any ideas for tachycardia making me not able to sleep?

Jul 31, 2016 4:40 PM

Last night I couldn't sleep at all because I was in so much pain... but I usually fall asleep with that. I think it was because my heart was beating so loud I thought it was a 🐘.
I was shaking uncontrollably for a lot of the night. Every time I lay down it got worse. I tried acupressure, I tried running my head in cold water! 😨
But nothing helped. When I felt pretty ok , my heart rate was in the 130s, when I was shaking it was 290! (Heart rate should be between 60~100)
I am going to the neurologist this week for POTS diagnosis, which causes this. But I need to sleep before then!!! Any advice appreciated!!! Please!!!

Hopetobe, I'm so sorry you weren't through that! I have had palpitations do that to me at night and it's awful to experience. My cardio doc has me buy a BP machine and track it several times daily for 2 weeks then follow up with him. We went over my diet, he's had me track too. He told me to come off all caffeine after 1-2 pm, and limit it before 1 pm. It has helped a lot. But I still notice palpitations under stress or with steroid meds. I hope you can get help to calm yours down! Hugs love & prayers!! 🙂💕🙏🌸

Have you cut out ALL caffeine, alcohol, chocolate and seriously limit sugar? These can all be triggers. Are you on any beta blockers to help regulate your rhythm? Sounds like you need to call your doctor so they can get you in sooner.

Thanks for the advice! We are going to the doctor soon and I'm hoping for some good drugs...I am not having any alcohol or caffeine at all. I very often have low blood sugar do i don't know if I should cut that out... I will mention that to my doctor. Its on the 9th and I'mb really hoping for a diagnosis and maybe meds.ill tell you what happens

That's good idea. I will start tracking my food if it happens again to see a pattern.
