Any tips on getting in to see a surgeon quicker than waiting on the public system please. I dont have private cover and its not work related.

I always ask them to put me in if there is a cancellation. My son was waiting for an appointment for a diagnosis for autism. The wait here for that is 2+ years. We were in in 9 months. Same with his tonsils. 4 months shrunk to 10 days. It's worth a try.

I just KNEW someone would have a good idea for you, Mark!!! Hsmommy, good call.. I've done that myself with decent results and sometimes not at all. Hang in there. Mark.. We'll find other ways to try get you in sooner

Frequent A&E visits for uncontrolled pain... Ringing the surgical dept daily and asking for cancellations!!!... Being friendly but desperate they will keep you in mind when a cancellation becomes available. Goodluck.

Mark why not find a surgeon who doesn't charge as much for consultation (still need to pay copayment) and who does public patients ? Some surgeons even bulk bill. I'm in Sydney .

Eleni..... trust me ive tried. Cause its not workcover or i dont have private health they dont want anything to do with me. Im in Adelaide btw

That is so frustrating for you. So you are after a neurosurgeon ? Consultations are covered by Medicare . I remember mine asked if I wanted to be treated as private or public . I do have health insurance .
