Anything to counteract Narco constipation?

Jul 27, 2017 1:39 AM

So they always perscribe me narco when my mouth breaks out, and it makes me hellishly constipated. But right now I'm also taking Prednisone which I know can react with certain laxitives.
So I'm doing a natural senna laxtive but I've taken 6 over the past three days and it's not doing much and I'm so constipated now it hurts to walk.
Any suggestions? I'm only on it for a few more days but with the pain it's putting me in it's hard to manage

Ask your doc about linsess (sp). They gave that to me for IBS-c. It helps a lot.

Google Barbara O'Neill, or You Tube; she has many videos inspecific areas, such as poultice, kidney etc..but has many natural healing remedies and explains what plants to use for what issues and how it works with the body...
I don't take antibioctics nor anti inflammatory pills because the garlic, lemon honey etc works so much better and I don't have resources for the pills anyway.
I've recently added apple cider to the mix; am really surprised just how fast it works and without bloating or cramping!
But you look into and do whatever is best for you..I just know what I've had to do...all my best...

I've been told to take metamucil every day. Also agree With frustrated: Lise's s is a new med out that fights chronic constipation because of opioids use. Check it out!👍

Hi Punkinz as I take morphine slow release I get very constipated and the normal laxatives that my doctor's prescribe actually feel like they hurt my tummy no matter how gentle they say they are so I only take them when I'm desperate but I've found in my local health food shop an Aloe Vera gentle cleanse and I take this every other night or if I'm having a bout where I'm more regular I take it every 4 to 5 days. You do need to drink plenty of water with it.....at least 2 liters a day.....I drink a lot of water anyway.....3 to 4 liters a day and I've cut that down after being told I'm drinking too much, I was diluting the salts out of my body (low salts over a long period can cause permanent neurological disorders) plus it caused more bladder issues than I already had.
And off course I try to eat lots of fruit and veg. Sometimes if I'm really desperate I will make a green smoothie with spinach or kale and lots of fruit that I know "helps" constipation.
Always try to drink plenty of fluids so you don't get hard impacted movements which will hurt when you go to the loo.

Sending you positive vibes and warm healing hugs xx

The best thing I have found for me is colace. My doctor said to increase the dosage until I find the right amount that works. I usually take 6 to 7 every day but have been known to take up to 10. Hope this helps.

Miralax is good for every day. I also have IBS with constipation. Also get bound up if I use my narcotic ( Percocet) remember to drink a lot of water and eat veggies and fruit ( have fiber in them) as Sezzy Also said. There is also a new drug that helps with opiod use. Can't remember the name. Ask your doctor. Good luck 😉

I eat flax. It works way better for me than anything else. I grind my own, but you can also purchase ground golden fax seeds. I add it to oatmeal or granola. It's also good as an egg substitute in many baked goods. Miracle cure!

Been dealing with this problem for more than half my life now because of pain meds. My doc put me on movantik a few months ago. So far so good. Something else you can ask about. Good luck. 🌹
