Arthritic pain verse fibro

Jan 10, 2016 9:55 AM

I have a question can anyone tell the difference from arthritic pain verse fibro or if there is a difference?

Jan 10, 2016 10:04 AM

Michellled.. Good question.. I don't think there is a difference. They bit have swelling and irritated joints and joint stiffness. But maybe someone else will have another view

I'm going to agree with newfibrogirl and say nerve pain is nerve pain. Even accompanied by other symptoms, the pain reference wording is the same.

Suffer from both and not sure to this day which is which pain wise. 😊

Hi Michelle! I suffer from RA and fibro both, and I can definitely tell a difference. Even when I am battling both at the same time. With my RA, my pain is in the joints and with the fibro, it's skin, muscles, scalp and nerve pain, ext....
With both I have horrible pain and it's hard to determine which is worse since there is no rhyme or reason to either. The fatigue is overwhelming with either.
When I first began to have pain with multiple health issues happening at the same time, I was very confused. I got to where I couldn't tell what was causing the most problem. All I knew is I was in pain! Now I can tell without a doubt, one from the other.

Would you say burning is arthritic i never had burning just bad pain in all joints

Jan 10, 2016 12:40 PM

When it's joint pain for me, I can describe it as anywhere from an ache to a crushing pain that before it gets to that level, it can feel like a hot poker going right into the joint area. Does this help?

Jan 10, 2016 12:47 PM

I am addicted to my rice and corn bags. Heat them for 3 min. The y hold a moist heat that seems to be of help. Also if you have any compression clothing, it helps.I hope you're beginning to get relief from your pain. I'm so sorry. 😢

Sleeping beauty. ...how or what kind of corn do u use I've never heard of a corn sock..

Jan 10, 2016 5:08 PM

My mom started making them years ago to give for gifts and they are wonderful! She used field corn. After you make one, whether it be a sock or however, heat it and let it cool . repeat 3 x's before using just to kill any micro-organisms that may be in the corn.
The one's my mom made were more like a small corn pillow. She used muslin to make them and made pillow cases too. Now that I think about it, it probably wouldn't take but a minute or so for a sock.

Michelle, like Sleepingbeauty, I can tell the difference. My OA is in my spine, bones & joints, but my fibro pain is in the muscles and soft tissues. As for the burning it could be fibromyalgia or neuropathies from something else. I have fibro & sjogrens, which both cause neuropathies. They dx sjogrens last spring, and its begin to affect the joints in my fingers, with warm to hit painful swelling (fluid-puffy). We had the cold front come in today and we are dropping to 25 tonight, after being in the 50-60ss at night. I'm already getting very stiff as the cold is seeping into my bones. I'm about to go find my cuddle duds to sleep in! I oppose you can figure out what's going on, because knowing what we are fighting is half the battle of dealing with it. Hugs & prayers! 😷🙏🌼

Yes it sure is! Cozy up and warm them bones! Feel better and stay warm!
