I have arthritis in my hip that has limited my ability to do almost everything. Have had injections that provide temporary relief. Now I also have pain in my lower leg. Has anyone experienced pain in their lower leg, along their shin bone from hip arthritis?
AMP, I'm sorry to hear you're hurting more. Are they sure you don't have an impingement in the hip? If it is it could be pressing a nerve. Also if the muscles are tight or swollen they would compress the nerves, causing more pain. When I had sciatica the muscles were staying swollen. And the PT therapist explained how the nerves twist in & out from muscle to muscle. Have you tried some physical therapy? What about Voltaren gel, or ice & heat? I use rice in a knotted tube sock. In the freezer or microwave, it works as well as an ice pack or heat pad.
I'm 53 and have osteoarthritis all over. I'm starting to develop stiffness & rigidity in my knees & hips. I can barely do steps of any kind. The other day I stepped off a curb and my right knee buckled. I'm so stiff its more difficult going from one level to another. With everything else going on I haven't been able to get back to the orthopedist. I hope you find some relief soon. Praying for you. 🙏🌼
AMP I have osteoarthritis as well in my hips, thighs, knees, shins and ankles. I have had steroid injections in both thighs ,my rt thigh has been almost 3 yrs since my last shot, I recently had to have one in my left thigh. Mainly we just have to use rubs and heat packs I make my own by using 2 large washcloths sew 3 sides then pour rice in 4th side and sew up. Put in microwave for 3 min. If you cover up it stays warm for several hrs.
TARDIS2238 that's great that you are so flexible. I wish I didn't have arthritis all over my body, especially my hips, it makes it hard to sit on chairs with cushions impossible to sit on metal, or wooden seats.
Dear AMP, Recently I started seeing a chiropractor and that gave me some relief for my hip pain of which I am waiting for hip replacement surgery. The doctor suggested some changes in my posture, sleep position etc. if you have chiro benefits, it's worth a try. Feel better...
LadyPink77- Thank you for your feedback. I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow and the last time I saw her she said she didn't think I needed a hip replacement. I don't know what she based her opinion on because I can't do anything because of the pain.
If there is a hip impingement that is pressing on a nerve, how does physical therapy or chiropractic help resolve that? I'm told I'm too early for hip replacement, and just had another MRI to get a look at the cyst in the hip joint. This is following doing the same just one year ago. Doc says the X-ray doesn't show much degradation in the past year but my pain is sure worse. I did physical therapy a couple years ago for 12 weeks 3 times a week but no relief
