Back spasms

Feb 01, 2015 11:21 AM

Hi all,
I'm dealing with these damn things after an auto accident on 12/1/2014. Been in the bed pretty much all weekend. Have been going to PT 3 times per week for almost 3 weeks and we still have not been able to break them at all. I'm really frustrated at this point. Ortho on Thursday morning but I can't wait that long. Headed into urgent care here in a bit. Something has got to give.

Hope you get some relief soon. Maybe you need some muscle relaxers for a bit to break the cycle? Heat helps my upper back as well as ice actually. I also have a foam roller that I use on the floor n stretch out on it. But to tell you the truth, when I have really severe pain from muscle spasms, the muscle relaxants are the only thing that helps, even more than pain pills. Let us know what Urgent Care says.

Will do. Thanks guys. I just can't deal with this today.

Paininde, It probably would help to have some type of muscle relaxers. I've been in multiple accidents and get spasms out of nowhere. My GP gives me some to keep on hand, and its usually 6 months before I have to refill it. Good luck & I'll pray you get relief soon.

The Ortho doc put me on tizanadine and it does keep them away for me

Nope, urgent care denied service today. Wii have to wait until tomorrow morning.

Why would they do that??! I know how miserable that can be... He had me on Diazepam which didn't work and he gave me the tizanadine which took an hour to take effect but I have been taking on morning and night until a few days ago... It has kept the muscle activity to a minimum and since I haven't taken them I've had some pretty strong episodes... I wish you luck and make sure to ask about it. I was injured a yeR ago and it's been a roller coaster since.

I'm going to once I get some sleep and a clear head. Minimal sleep and pain does not make me a happy camper. Good night.

Okay so the response I got from urgent care is this, "we won't see you today because this is covered under the state of delaware's insurance and their is nobody at the office." You can either go to the ER or we can see you as a self pay which is $120 up front." I turned around and walked out after that. Ludicrous people. Going to my primary care this afternoon. Hope to get some relief this afternoon and then PT later on tonight. I've just had enough at this point.

I hope you get some relief today Paininde. It shouldn't have to be so difficult to be taken care of, it's crazy.

Feb 02, 2015 1:25 PM

That's ridiculous!!! I hope your primary is able to help you. I'll say a prayer for you. I thought that is what "urgent care" is for.. It's a shame they have such excuses.

What a joke for primary care. They put me on steroids again and wasn't going to prescribe muscle relaxers so I had to beg. Not happy.

Feb 04, 2015 4:10 PM

Okay so I finally caved into it and started the steroids. I talked to my mom last night and said, "you know, this pain is pretty intense if I caved into that." She said, you are absolutely right. Something is not quite right then. Will find out more tomorrow. Please keep the prayers, good vibes coming.

Thank you FlappysLady. Honestly thinking there's something else going on cause as soon as the heat and TENS unit stopped tonight, muscle spasms started right back up.
