Bad day!

Oct 14, 2015 8:11 PM

Hi all, I'm in need of a good whining session. My primary care doc sent me to a chiropractor and I'm in worse pain now. I knew it was going to hurt but I've a massive headache and have not been sleeping more than 2-3 hours a night. Laying in bed causes low back pain and hip pain. My outer thighs are tender to the touch so laying down hurts. I haven't felt this miserable in a while. I think if I was getting better sleep maybe coping would be easier.

Sorry your day was so tough. I totally get not having enough sleep. My pain levels are going up this week, because my school gets about 100x as stressful when we go into "build" for Confluence. Freshmen don't realize how well be changing groups again next week, for final projects. I'm so excited, but we're having a bunch of work to do, including a debate tomorrow, and a short historical fiction assignment.
Anyway, I'm barely sleeping. Not fun.

Anonymous1971, does it hurt to lay on the sides of the HIPPA only? If you press in on the area known as "pongs" (on a woman's wide hips), does it hurt, is it tender? I have bursitis of both hips and shoulders. When I get flare ups, usually in cold weather, I cannot sleep on my sides until I get cortisone shots. I've done too much bending or walking that has caused flare ups. That's why I'm wondering, if maybe the PT has done the same to you? Definitely let the PT person know. Hugs and a prayer you can get this figured out and calmed down. 🙏🌼

Flappys, My hips and down the outside of my legs hurt and are tender to the touch. Laying on any surface can bring me to tears. They've x-rayed my hips and there's nothing visibly wrong with my hips. They think it's being caused by my lower back. I've never heard the word Pongs or HIPPA except in reference to the privacy act lol I'm a dork 😜

HIPPA = hips

"Pongs" is a southern description of the widest part of the hips on a female, right at the top of the outside of the legs (what's considered the hip) at the junction to the trunk. Lol, it's kind of like "ba-donk-a-donk" for a plump rear end! 😱 I don't know if these are terms used almost over the USA, but they are in GA. 🙏🌼

As for your pain, if they've created and nothing shows, have they done an MRI for the hips and spine? If they think it's from the back then they should either do an MRI or myelogram. Are you under the care of a pain specialist? I am, because my spine is my sciatic problem, but there's nothing to correct surgically. That's where the pain specialist comes in, for epidural steroid injections.

Hi FlappysLady,

I'm not under the care of a pain specialist. I had an MRI done last year on my neck and back. They won't do surgery on my back either. I had a scoliosis screening today. Its been 7 years since it was last checked. I am not taking anything for pain as of today. I go back to my doctor on the 28th. Hopefully I can get a referral to a pain specialist then.

I've got the same pain 1971 does. I just had 6 injections about 2 weeks ago, including the hips and sciatic nerves. It helped initially. .. I was able to sleep 4 or 5 hours without pain waking me up. Tonight, hower, I hurt so badly that sitting on the toilet to pee made me cry earlier. It's in my hips again and down both outer thighs. I just took 2 Percocet and 1.5 Zanaflex so I hope to sleep this off. Anyway, ice usually helps when it's just one hip, if that's an option for you 1971.

Anonymous, that is the reason I will not go to a chiropractor. I know that sometimes they can help but with all of the issues that most of us have, sometimes it makes things worse. I wish that there was something I could do to make it better for you. I'm so sorry I wasn't here when you posted. I have been down for the count with a migraine among other things for a few days. I feel guilty leaving my peeps unattended. I hate being away and finding the people who came to my aide when I joined the group in need and I wasn't there... Bad me..(slapping the back of my hand!!) I hope that you are on the mend. I know how distressing it is when you are in that kind of pain and don't know what to do with yourself. Sending you {{{{Hugs}}}} and my prayers that you feel better. I also send my apologies and I will not be MIA any more no matter how badly I am feeling.🙏🏻🌻

Alwayz you have to take care of yourself too :) migraines take me out. I appreciate your words. For some reason makes me hurt worse but heat feels good. My doctor told me yesterday that my blood work shows an antigen? That people with lupus have but numbers so low it's not lupus 😜 someday I will figure out what is causing the widespread pain. I already know why my back and neck hurts. They don't generally cause all over body pain tho. One day at a time!

Exactly!! One day at a time. One moment at a time when necessary. Just know that you're not alone. We're all here to help one another get through and I think because of what we deal with, we are all stronger than we think!! You can do it.. I'll be right there beside you doing the same thing... Putting one foot in front of the other.💕🙏🏻🌻

Serenasills, the hip pain you're described sounds similar to mine, ever since this sciatica flared up again. It comes up from the tailbone and runs across the top of the iliac crests on both hips, and it goes down both legs, mostly the left.

Anonymous, I as so hoping your pain would have calmed down just a bit for you. Gentle teddy 🐻hugs! 🙏🌼
