Bereavement and high blood pressure

Jul 05, 2016 6:21 PM

Hi this is about my mum she's 52 and has various health issues but has always had low blood pressure however 3 weeks ago today my Gran passed away and we were all really close to my Gran but my mum hasn't cried she says she's just numb and in "business mode" with dealing with Grans affairs. The doctors now really concerned as her blood pressure has shot up threw the roof and we're all terrified she's going to take a heart attack.

She's told the doctors she doesn't want to see a Counciler as it will come in its own time but we're all really worried as my mum took partial retirement to look after my Gran who was 80 and had early Alzhimers so she spent nearly every day with her.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Subostar85, I'm so sorry to hear of your loss, and the struggle your mom is going through. Grief is something that is different for everyone. When my grandfather passed in March 1999, followed by my mom's death in July 1999, All I could do was function like a programmed robot every day, just to get through all the legal estate stuff, work my job, take care of my kids, house, & hubby, eat & sleep what little I could. Four months after my mom's death I got up to go to work and emotionally crashed down, completely broken & unable to function. I had to go back on antidepressants and anxiety meds I had not been on for over 3-4 years. Your mom needs some time, but she would benefit from a grief support group or counseling to help her through it. Hugs & prayers she will accept some help! 🙂💕🙏🌼
