Nov 30, 2016 8:48 AM

So about couple months ago maybe I started having really bad chest pains, they come and go, but it's so bad I have to lamas breath rubb my sturnum some times I have to put pressure on my chest some times that hurts worse it's soooooo weird... They burn, dull constant pulsing, and pinching... It can last any where from 1 to 2 min last night was longest yet about 5 min and it came back three times... Finally I had to take another muscle relaxer cuz I could not sleep cuz pain... Does any body else experience this?????? My physician said I should go to ER immediately when happens but it happens so random and frequent they lock me up.. It really scares me when it happens, but I read an article on a condition I cannot pronounce but says it's something people with fibro expierence some times, I already have asthma bad, I get asthmatic bronchitis several times a year, so idk...

I know the pain u are talking about. Now when it comes to chest pains never underestimate it. If u have any pain in ur arm with the chest pain plese go to ER or call for help. However, I have thst rib cage pain or what I call is the bra line pain. It's hard to breathe laying down does not help it's just a very heavy comfortable pressure. My uncle also has fibromayalgia and he has this pain. I wish I could give u a fast and true answer I n how to stop it but I've not found it yet myself. Only thing I do I take tramadol and just get as comfortable as possible.

It is common with fibro. I can't think of what it's called. Probably the word you can't pronounce. But it usually lasts long than a few minutes. It feel like you're having a heart attack. I'll look it up.

Costochondritis is what I was thinking

Costochondritis.

I ended up in the ER the first time it happened. Its certainly scary. I was sure I was having a heart attack. Not sure how to ease it. For me the muscle relaxers help. That and the recliner.

This has been the cause of several trips to the ER for me, it is so scary and not knowing what is happening makes it more so. The part of not knowing causes anxiety, after seeing a psychologist, I have eventually learnt how to deal with these attacks. I usually take alprazolam, which works as a muscle relaxant as well.

I have fibro & Costochondritis in the sternum area that wraps left under the breast around the ribs. But I was also having a random severe squeezing pain that was in the area where the lowest 3 ribs meet, the notch above the navel. It had been getting worse and my PCP said it was the Costochondritis. It turned out to be caused by my hiatal hernia, which was repaired in the spring. That squeezing pain has not returned. There could be several causes. If it's not been diagnosed you should see a doctor, even if it means going to the ER; better safe than sorry. And answers reduce unnecessary worry. Hugs love and prayers it's nothing with the heart! 🙂💕🙏🌸

@animal lover2 yes that's what I'm wondering if it may be that so now I have two questions for my pain doc.. It has, to be some thing I'm 40 I sure as hell ain't growing any more there so random but soooooo strong n bad when they come on. Thank u

Dec 01, 2016 4:26 PM

@mimikay yea I was told by my Gastro doc go to ER right away I'm like as often as this happens r u fucking serious tho they lock me up lol... Yea I saw that come across my page so I read it I have all the stuff on there so I'm bringing it up next visit..

Dec 01, 2016 4:30 PM

@grumpymum yea I'm on cyclobenzapine three times a day, my pain doc said he would allow it if I felt I had to take extra I would have to figure out a day take away from shoot as much as I'm like 4 is not that bad if it's when things are soooooo bad but I got it and appreciate his fast honest cancer response at least I know where he stands u know... But yes that night I waited hour in agony cried laying rocking but after hour no relief I took another muscle relaxer passed out there after shortly... So at least I have that lil trick lol.. Only other thing kinda helps me is either pushing on my sternum, or lamas breathing if pushing hurts to much I then just rubb up n down on my center sternum area it eases it a little but daaaammmn ain't no joke....

Dec 01, 2016 4:33 PM

@flappyslady81, yea that's where it goes center chest down to ribs so sounds like I got another issue to address sigh... Hugz all thank u

Yes I just had that last night! I have also come to believe it is costochondritis. I can usually meditate and breathe away most things but not this! I have to actually get up and move - even walk around outside. Lying still is the worst thing for me to do. One of my new daily stretches for my upper back is a standing mini backbend and my sternum adjusts! Those pains seem to have declined now that I'm able to move that area myself. I also have Ehler-Danlos Syndrome (aka joint hyper mobility syndrome) and I suspect all these things are related. I think I've been making this progress with my stretching bc of myofascial release with massage every two weeks, and using the techniques I've learned to calm my central nervous system (e.g. Restorative yoga, meditative breathing, EFT "tapping" and therapy/counseling)

@Shannon902 yes I am gonna try n start yoga on my Wii again just gotta get it set up and going n push to do it.. It's hard right now.. Yea laying is like hell but I found putting pressure on my sternum some times helps, if that doesn't I rubb up n down on it that eases it some but this last time brought me to tears, I took extra muscle relaxer it knocked me out.. I hate how randome it is like know telling when or where, but almost every time mines been in afternoon evenings..

Dec 02, 2016 4:16 AM

@Shannon902 yup that's what I'm talk to my pain doc about..

It does make you feel like you're having a heart attack.
However, your best bet is to be checked out first. I have pain in so many areas that mimic heart issues that I went to a cardiologist for a full workup and all was well. Doesn't mean I can't have a heart attack but I don't necessarily know if I'd recognize it. At any rate, it was later I was diagnosed with costochondritis and it's flaring like hell today!! I feel for you if you've got it. You get used to it like everything else.
Hang in there!! {{{Hugs}}}💕😊

Yes, I often have that. Can't say I have spotted a pattern yet. You are not alone.

Dec 02, 2016 3:19 PM

@MizzMonroe just be careful with yoga on your Wii. There are some styles of yoga and yoga breathing that are BAD for us with fibro and especially if you also have hypermobility like me.
