Body Clenching at Night

Apr 06, 2018 10:50 AM

Does anyone else with fibromyalgia clench up at night? I clench my jaw, shoulders, elbows, hands, knees, toes and ankles when I am asleep and am not sure why. It really causes alot of pain. I've tried muscle relaxants and magnesium to no avail. I don't feel particularly stressed and cannot account for why this is happening.

Yup in the end my GP prescribed me Diazepam which has helped. I soak in a hot as I can stand it bath with lavender Epsom salts. I also use the salt in my foot massagers throughout the week. Hope you some of that helps. Love Hayley 🌈

I take zopiclone to sleep, cymbalta and tramacet for pain.

It's possible that your body clenching up at night is fibromyalgia, but it could also be at least in part due to medications. The product monograph for Cymbalta lists musculoskeletal stiffness as a side effect. The product monograph for Tramacet lists musculoskeletal stiffness and hypertonia (spasticity) as side effects.
