Both shoulders and surrounding muscle hurt like hell!!

Mar 10, 2015 6:47 PM

Hi All,
Hope you are not suffering too much.
I was wondering if any one had any good ideas, tips or experience in trying to sort this pain out?
I have tried everything, moving it, not moving it, hot, cold and putting my worst arm in a sling, taken paracetamol, tramadol and meptid, nothing is hitting it at all.
Look forward to hearing ideas.
Many thanks, Lizzy

Hey daisygirl, or Lizzy, have you injured yourself? Did it just come out of nowhere? I've had bursitis in both shoulders and it just hurts no matter what, until I got cortisone injection. I've also had impinged shoulders (both), and needed physical therapy for them. It happened several times by sleeping on my sides. I hope you get better soon because I know how bad it is. If you've tried heat, ice & meds, try an ointment. If that doesn't help see an orthopedist. Praying for you 🙏🌼

Hey Lizzy, I'm sorry you are suffering so. I have horrendous issues with my neck, both shoulders and my back. Unfortunately, nothing touches it any more. I live most of the time with a pain level of 8-8.5. I use heat mostly because cold causes my muscles to spasm. Cortisone offers little or no relief. I hope you find the cause and get it sorted out. Always try to do gentle stretching and move because although complete rest seems logical, sometimes it makes the pain worse when you start moving again. You'll be in my prayers. 🙏🌺

Hi ! Lizzy I have been have bad pain in both shoulders my rt one seems to be the worst it starts in my neck and down into my joint it radiates down to my elbow. I have a really hard time raiding it up is excruciating pain. All my primary will say is it's because of my neck he thinks it's refered pain. It may be referred pain but I'm about to the breaking point. I'm taking 50 MG Fentonyl patch, and generic Norco about 2-4 times a day and it's still a 8-10, that's not counting all the other pain I have else where which is usually a 7-8. I do use a roll on cool hay that is a Walmart brand if someone helps me. It does give me a little relife. Hope you get some relife soon

Thank you all for your replies and thoughts. I think something happened when I pulled my pillow at an awkward angle. The pain is so intense it wears me to a frassle.............no relief is exhausting!
I have bursitis in my hips, so I can only imagine flappslady88 how horrible it must be in your shoulders.
I definitely can cope with various levels of pain below the waist, above the waist like back, shoulders, neck and head far harder to deal with. Hope you all get a good amount of sleep. Lizzy

Lizzy, if it occurred from pulling at your pillow, you just may have caused an impingement (where its slightly out of place and one bone is rubbing against the another). Its excruciating to lift out front or over your head. It takes PT to realign the joint. Praying for you!🙏🌼
