Breast cancer post treatment pain

May 09, 2016 5:00 PM

I was treated for breast cancer last year...5 months of nasty chemo, targeted therapy for 1 year, countless tests, and 4 surgeries (I think it was 4) including bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction. Started taking Tamoxifen for ER/PR+ cancer and had to stop due to severe joint pain. Been off Tamoxifen for 8 weeks and last chemo was 10 months ago but still have daily pain in almost all joints and my upper back. So frustrating!

Juneclever, my sister just finished up chemo for bilateral Breast cancer she still has more treatments to go But has been complaining of unbearable joint pain that just puts her to bed. I feel for her because it's hard for her to find relief. But she does self medicate.

Junecleaver, I'm sorry you are suffering with your joints on top of all the cancer/treatments. My dad has had chemo and radioactive seed implants multiple times over a 30 year period & he's had joint problems for years, with rapid deterioration. I know how much he's suffered so I can understand your pain. I don't know any suggestions, because what has been tried on my dad hasn't helped, especially now at 86 with Alzheimer's. You're in my thoughts & prayers! (((Hugs))) 🙂💕🙏🌼

Hi June,
Would you mind PMing me? Also are you under an Orthopaedic Surgeon?
I might be able to help and I'll do my best :)
Stay strong
Gentle hugs
