I have had fibro now for about 5 years or so. I've got the skin pain, the pain all over, pretty much everything. NOW.... left breast, left - sided pain. It's from just outside my armpit to a few inches before my nipple and about a hand breadth across. Very, very painful. This started a couple months ago and I was thinking mastitis. Finally gave in and went to my GP, right after having an ear infection and finishing amoxicillin. She also agreed with mastitis and gave Keflex.... and a mammogram. So... mammogram and Ultrasound completed and normal, Keflex complete, even been trying hot compresses. They are blaming fibro. Anyone????
SerenaSills, orderly I've been having pain on the outer side of both breasts, mostly the left. It wraps under my arms along the ribcage, to the bottom of my scapulas. It feels tender like lymph nodes but slightly more painful. I've had fibro about 7 years. I've had my first abnormal mammogram and it showed a nodule on the inner side of my left breast. I haven't seen a doctor since the mammogram. I have wondered if it's the fibro, or maybe part of Costochondritis which I've had in my front ribs and sternum before. 🙏🌼
Flappsy, that sounds like it is more from the Costochondritis than the Fibro. However, since we are talking breasts, this is very strange. I have been experiencing a new symptom lately and that is that my breasts are itching... It is not really a skin itch and when I do scratch gently, it burns. The itching is mostly at the nipple and ariola. I thought it was weird and here I come on tonight to check on all my special peeps and here is a thread about breasts... Hmmm. wonder what's going on.
I do have 2 nodules, but they are in the right breast. They suggested I take Naprosyn also, which I at first thought ridiculous as I am on Diclofenac and Percocet, but tonight it seems to have helped somewhat. We will see....
Serena, I know this might sound crazy, but have you tried limiting the amount of caffeine you are drinking? I actually learned from my breast surgeon that increased caffeine can trigger those symptoms as well sometimes. Just my 2 cents today. And, yes we need to do a bra burning. And right now, mine is coming off, as I can't tolerate it anymore.
Well, I don't drink ridiculous amounts of caffeine to start with, never manage to finish a diet Coke. But, I have to say when I take the Naproxen it helps a lot! But, I can definitely tell when it wears off. Idk what is going on.
Qweenb, I don't wear a bra any more either unless I am leaving the house or if there are people coming over. It's just too painful. I have had surgeries that the bra presses against and it makes me miserable. The doctor said there is nothing on my mammo and that on physical exam he can't feel any abnormality either. The itching nipples are driving me nuts though!
I can't really go without a bra for too long. I'm between a DD and a DDD so it gets painful without after awhile. I have SI joint, L5 and S1, and both hips being injected tomorrow. .. no sedation. I'll be crying while filling out paperwork. Can't sleep now just thinking about it, but I've been waiting for months to get these injections so I really can't back out. Scared to death!!
LM right there with you Serenasills. But when I'm home I use those thin bras that's all pullover material. I've had my Playtex wireless for about 3 weeks and the only problem I have is the band around the chest & back, it rolls up on my back because the material isn't stuff enough. 🙏🌼
I hear you.. Being over endowed myself DD to DDD, they are uncomfortable and heavy in or out of a bra. Now with the skin pain, I have been experiencing an itching sensation around my nipples. It's making me nuts.
Hey, New here. I've got sharp, electric needle, pain in both breasts which also is in my armpits for 11 years now. Initially doctors thought it was hashimotos but after genetic testing was done it ended up being Carneys Complex which causes fibro ademonas that can be painful in some women. The lumps are benign but the pain is excruciating and constant.
I stopped wearing bras and only wear sport like camo bras. When my fibro hits me in my upper chest I have a hard time breathing and having a bra on even makes it worse. I wear loose fitting close and nothing heavy if I can help it.
Everyone have your gynecologist check your prolactin level. My gynecologist did bloodwork and my prolactin was high. I didn't what that meant but apparently when it's high you can have breast tenderness and milk discharge (which I don't have cause that would have freaked me out especially when I can't have kids and I'm celibate). It also cause vaginal dryness, now if you have Sjögren's syndrome like I do you might think the dryness is from that. I also have hypothyroidism and prolactin and that run hand and hand. The most important part is if your level is high then the doctor will want to do MRI to check your pituitary gland to see if you have a tumor on it. Don't freak out cause I did cause I do have a benign tiny tumor. And it would have to be 5 times bigger to see a neurosurgeon so I just have to get a MRI once a year unless I start getting headaches and my vision is being affected. So if you have any of these symptoms along with the breast tenderness I would ask my gynecologist if they checked my prolactin level on my last bloodwork. Don't know if this advice helps anyone but I thought I would throw it out there just in case.
I had all my labs done and it was on the other side of the scale. I was low not high. By Dr. Was a little confused on that. How ever the labs showed I had iron, calcium and V-D efficiency. I have been placed on supplements. I also been loosingy hair and had test come back it was a stress relates trauma shedding of the hair. I was just diagnosed with fibromyalgia last June.
I have that same type of breast pain. I have fibrous breasts. It can be hormonal or fibro related. I’m a DD and rarely wear a bra, at home or in public. I normally go out and wear a loose top with a scarf covering my chest area when I’m braless. I found the comfiest bras ever if I really need to wear one. These are on the pricy side but well worth the investment. Here is a $15 off coupon. http://my.trueandco.com/x/GgoThg Just FYI, in the last few years of rarely wearing a bra, I’m actually perkier and have more natural lift as my chest muscles have learned to work harder. Overall, better not wearing a bra.
