Bursitis Flare! 😩

Jun 09, 2015 8:31 AM

Haven't slept well the past three nights because my hip bursitis has flare up. I rubbed voltaren gel in last night but it barely made a difference. I usually go get steroid injx but they won't do it because I had my knee injx 2 weeks ago. Does anyone have suggestions besides using ice packs? I'm getting where I don't tolerate ice packs on joints well. 🙏🌼

FlappysLady, how about a hot tub bath? That seems to calm my osteo down significantly.

Amanda, I use to love a warm bath soak. Unfortunately I can't get in & out safely anymore. We have a 1970s bathtub that's deep. I slipped and nearly fell the last time I used it. If we had the money we'd have an outdoor jacuzzi, one that's easy to get in and out of. Thanks for the suggestion though! I do have the massaging shower head which helps some. 🙏🌼

FlappysLady81, I purchased a portable ultrasound device and have found it to be a huge help in relieving the pain. It was not cheap ( about $190 AU ) but it was worth it when considering the number of tubes if anti-inflammatory gel ( at $20 AU ) that I was going through. Good luck.

Eddieray, sadly we didn't have any walk-in tubs available when we had to gut & rebuild both bathrooms. Now, four years after they're everywhere. If we move or have another problem I may just do that. It would be so nice!

Razor525, I had no idea you could buy those. They used one one my wrist for OT after CTS surgery and on my knee. I'll look for one. Thanks. 🙏🌼

FlappysLady, just saw a website where they are fairly inexpensive. Www.scriphessco.com. Price is $59.95 and it's portable.

When I went to physical therapy, I was going there because of my rotator cuff. I have a tear in it. I also have bone on bone in the socket or ball of the joint. It is very painful at times. Plus on top of that, there is bursitis close by.. Well, because of that, I wasn't able to move my arm much. I use to use my right arm for everything. I would write with it. I am embarrassed to say, but I would wipe myself when I use the bathroom. I can't use my right arm anymore. Not even to shampoo my hair. The pain is horrendous. The condition was bad. It fell under two different categories. One would be that I would be in a lot of pain but I could use it a little. I could do lite exercises. The second part was that I couldn't move it. The pain was intense. No matter what I would take, the pain pills and ibuprofen didn't work. I was at the point that I begged my doctor for prednisone. I told her I don't care if it gives me diabetes, I couldn't take the pain. It was at least an eight maybe a nine. I was rocking back and forth and I was in a terrible state of mind. I had to take a Xanax because I felt confined to a chaIf in pain. Then I saw my physical therapist again and he brings out this gift from God. It was the ultrasound. I went in there in intense pain. An hour after I left, I felt significant relief to the point that I felt refreshed and able to regroup myself for the next battle. So this ultrasound this is really good. I have seen them online in the states for $99. I am going to get one when I can afford it. You may want to get one Flappy. I think you will like the results. It is a Godsend. And it last quite a while. It does reduce inflammation.

I'm looking into that ultrasound. I've had them used before on my shoulders and hand (cts). It does feel good. Thankfully it's eased up some.

I wonder if it would help my shoulder and pain in leg starts where the bone goes into hip socket down outside from my thigh all the way to my ankel. It has been giving me a fit for the last week. I dread our trip to Galveston it is 168 miles from my house to UTMB. We are going down the day before,so hopefully we all won't be so tired for her appointments. After she gets her ultrasound done we have to be in League City. It's going to be soo much fun that day thank God he romantic and Daddy is coming on this trip.
