Butrans

I'll be starting 10 mg butrans patch next week. My hydrocodone isn't working anymore. Has anybody used this patch? My concerns are pain control obviously, but also is an opioid agonist and I'm concerned it will cause withdrawals by working against the hydrocodone while I'm transitioning. Anybody have experience with this? Thank you!

Hi there, I was on Norco 10/325 for years. Unfortunately I became dependent and addicted. After being sober for 5 months, I still needed something for my facet joint arthropapthy. My PMD suggested the BuTrans patch. It made me pretty groggy in the am for the first couple weeks, but then I was fine. I loved it for a few reasons, but hated it for a few different ones. It helped a lot with my am pain when I woke up. I noticed a huge difference. Also my continuous pain dropped dramatically. But, my breakthrough pain was still there. Without the Norcos, I had nothing to fall back on. I was on the patch for about 2 years, but then stopped. Being a woman I hated having these red patch marks all over my arms and back. You can't put it in the same spot for 2 weeks. So your constantly switching it up, in the 4 spots your "aloud" to put it. After some time I realized it only lasted about 5 days for me instead of 7. I ended up going back to Norcos for a few years, and now I'm off of them again. I've been on Suboxone for 6 months which has the same narcotic as the patch. Norcos have ruined my life. I'm only 34 and have back problems since I was 27. It's been an awful road. I still struggle with being in pain and not wanting to be on anything but being miserable in pain half the time if I'm not. I wish you the best of luck and Im so sorry your in pain. I hope this helped a bit

I mainly take suboxone and top it of with an ultram if it gets to bad.
Ontop of fibro I have chronic migraines , I get botoxs Injections that help a lot but am 4 weeks behind schedule due to insurance and was in bed for 2 days not being able to get up cause my head tries to split itself in half.

Thanks optimistic. I appreciate your response. She only gave me 2 and then I go back. Problem is, my apt isn't for 3 weeks. So I want going to stay it only to be without for a whole week. I decided to start today because I'm so sick of hurting. I haven't noticed any difference yet. I've give all day with no Norco but now it's bedtime and my legs are driving me nuts. Guess it shouldn't surprise me, after being on it for 10 years i'm obviously going to be addicted. Was just going the patch would replace the other. That's my biggest problem. I think my expectations are too high and I expect to feel better than I'm ever really going to. Until after I'm dead and gone and can't feel anymore
