Can I Strangle Someone Now?

Feb 04, 2016 3:11 AM

I'm in Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Ga. I had total knee replacement surgery on Tuesday, including the patella. I only had two pain pills yesterday!!!!! The last time was 10 hours ago. Who created this torture chamber??? My friends want me to go to rehab. What and let someone else be in control of my pain meds? I'm a human being and should not be subjected to this. They'll come and give you whatever other medications you need, but not for pain. Do they not know how painful this is? On top of everything else, they are also freezing me to death. Asked the aide to turn the air down a couple of notches. She turned it down to 65!! GET ME OUT OF THIS TORTURE HOLE!

I'm so sorry.. Do u have someone with u? I had to get my sister to put a caring fire under my nurse staff

How long r u gonna be in the hospital

I'm leaving here today and will not attempt a nursing home. I will talk with patient advocates before I leave, however. The thing is that I spoke with the charge nurse before that. I should have asked them how they you feel if it was your mother? However, the one who finally gave me the pain pill was cold and indifferent, to say the least.

That's insane! I don't know how this happens all the time! I keep hearing stories like this and it makes me not ever want to go to the hospital!

Feb 04, 2016 7:23 AM

Donamel, are you discharged yet? I am so sorry for your situation. I had the same kind of nightmare in the hospital a couple of times. Once was even after the doctor put it in my orders that I need a huge dose of meds, wrote what it was and that I was to get it every 3 hours to control my pain. He also made a notation that I was NOT to have to ring for my meds. Well, not only did I have to ring the nurse each and ever time but they brought brought it whenever the hell they felt like it. I hope you get the hell out of there quick and I don't think you're wrong about not going to rehab.. You have to so what's right for YOU. Sending you lots of love, gentle {{{Hugs}}} and prayers that you are able to go home, get a home care nurse to help you get better asap.💕🙏🏻🌻

Most hospital have a floor nurse or should have a number bto an administrator in the room in would call or inwoukd ask and if the number is not given I would find it. This is crazy.
I suppose since I grew up in a hospital setting and most of my family is in a medical field I know how things r suppose to go and a patient should never be left in pain. I'm so sorry

The problem is now resolved. Had my friend contact the patient advocate and attorney. They are going to transport me back to Canton to a rehab facility. That facility is keenly aware that I'm leaving here because of the wretched care I received.

Man, they get you when you are at your weakest. What exacerbated it was the robotic coldness with which the nurse responded. Then she handled my leg coldly, like it was a piece of beef instead of attached to a human being.

Feb 04, 2016 11:05 AM

Alwayz, yours was even more of a nightmare. There's just something wrong with the health care system in this country! First of all, it needs human beings and not little robots. Then they should all take the Hippocratic oath: Do no harm.

They sure did harm, my shoulder that was recently reconstructed, is now painful again. I'll stay in the rehab center for exactly three days. They know there was a problem with the hospital and that will hopefully keep them on their toes.

Gee whizz, bet ya I'll forget about this hospital when I get the other knee done.

The knee was a disaster area and even the patella had to be replaced. The other knee is worse

I lived in Georgia for a couple of years and I forget how far Marietta Georgia is from Atlanta Georgia, Anyway I forget the name of the hospital that my Aunt had gone to, but they took real great care of her and they even helped the hubby and I get hotel reservations made at a discounted rate because they have a deal with them. That hospital did her nuero surgery several times as she had several brain aneurysm's. Maybe it's because I'm sick I can't remember, it's driving me crazy I can't remember lol! It's down the road from the CDC lol if that helps!

Ha-ha had to Google it! It's Emory University! Very good hospital but never go to the er on a busy night you'll wait for hour's lol!!

Doctors and Hospitals are fine if they can physically see what's causing the pain. My legs feel like they are trapped under a truck. Nothing works. Living in hell.

Feb 04, 2016 6:17 PM

The thing is they know what's causing my pain. The problem was some young robotic person without empathy. I'm so sorry that they haven't discovered what's wrong with your legs. That's a bummer! How long has it been?

Donamel, I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Emory University Hospital has an awesome orthopedic surgeons group. My dad had his shoulder joint replacement there, and my uncle has both knees done there. I'm praying your rehab goes well, and once you are home you will feel even better. Hugs, love, & prayers! 🙂🙏💕🌼

Guess what? Charge nurse just came in and gave me pain pill. I don't have to beg for it now. My friend's calls did the trick. But why is it necessary to go through all of these changes? Tomorrow, they are to transport me to rehab via ambulance. To me, that's appropriate since I went through a physical therapy session without pain meds.

Guess everyone, at least in Georgia, needs to be prepared to have a friend on hand to make the necessary calls. I've had to make similar calls on behalf of my friends here in the great State of Georgia. Seems like they get you worse when you are still under the influence of anesthesia, at least in my case.

Donamel, I am so glad that you're going to be taken to the rehab facility by ambulance. It's good that your friends were able to to get that accomplished. Funny how someone on the outside was able to get things in motion and because of that, the nasty nurse is treating you better. I know that when you get to rehab, they'll be on their very best behavior. It's almost 4am and I hope what I'm saying is making sense.. LOL!!! I guess what I'm saying is that I'm happy that things are going better and that you have a good feeling about rehab... Sending you well wishes, love, gentle {{{Hugs}}} and prayers that it's smooth sailing from here forward. 💕🙏🏻🌻😊

Thank you so very much. It's times like this that I regret moving here from Cleveland Clinic territory, but this is my home now. Since I understand the differences between one hospital system to another, I think it's time for me to start a blog. This is the greatest country in the world and no one should have to beg for quality health service.
