Cannabis

Jul 12, 2016 1:32 PM

Hi friends. I'm in Oregon visiting my sister. I am trying a bunch of different cannabis products to see what helps my pain. I will report on what works and what doesn't. ✌️β™₯️

Jul 12, 2016 2:20 PM

I smoke cannabis for breakthru pain & nausea. I have trried eating it but it gives a totally different effect... which i did not like.

I tried sativex the spray under the tongue... but again ingesting it orally made me hallucinate... not nice.

So i smoke the green herb in a pipe or a blunt... little and often to take the edge off my breakthru pain.

Good luck trying out different cannabis products... i hope u find a good result πŸ€— cant wait to hear x

I live in Oregon and use cannabus regularly for pain. I have found some of the best for me are purple Cush and mango strains

Jul 12, 2016 10:49 PM

I'm in Canada, where medicinal marijuana is legal. I'm finding it very helpful with my fibromyalgia, although i only got the prescription a week ago. The DR's here really push vaporizers, and i find them so much nicer than smoking it.

Jul 13, 2016 12:44 AM

So far I've tried a salve that I rubbed on my back... Didn't really do anything. Helped a little I guess. I also ate a chocolate bar that was high cbd and no thc. That didn't really do much either hah, maybe a little relief. So far I think the relief is just psychological. I found that being proactive and doing something about my pain gives me a little relief, rather than nothing at all.

Jul 13, 2016 2:10 AM

I tried vaping the CBD oil for a long weekend... it did nothing for my pain which was a shame. The THC works well for me and i am currently smoking blunts or vaping it as i have given up tobacco πŸ€—

Jul 13, 2016 4:28 AM

Im looking to try vaping for my pain as i want to stay away from opoids.

Jul 13, 2016 11:41 AM

Hello CannaDad 🐫 hearing u loud n clear! X

Jul 13, 2016 11:45 AM

From what my naturopath says, you need the THC for the CBD to work. I'm using a strain with 10% THC and 12% CBD.

Jul 13, 2016 11:45 AM

I'm new here. Just seeing if this is something I'd use.
I have been exploring Cannabis strains for pain for the past few years and can offer some insight if anyone has questions. I'm not an expert, but I have been thorough in my documnenation. Hit me up if you have any. Maybe we can figure this out together.

Jul 13, 2016 12:38 PM

I'm in Canada. It's legal. I've tried vaping, infusing it into coconut oil, eating it in a cookie, and the actual Rick Simpsons oil under my tongue. I've found no relief at all. I got cotton mouth and the munchies. That's no help. Lol I never touched any drugs as a kid so it's weird trying it as an adult. Oh one thing it did help. I was able to lower the dosage of a seizure med I've been on for years with no withdrawal. That's a big deal. I've tried Indica with high cbd and low thc, I've tried it with equal amounts of both, and I've tried some sativa which can cause seizures for me. Although I don't like the smell or taste of any of it, I was kind of bummed it didn't help more. I'd rather go the natural route. Everything I tried was medical marijuana grade. I had a license for it and went through the government suppliers.

Jul 13, 2016 12:41 PM

Wow, I'm so sorry Gibber. I wish it was more help for you. It's not a cure for me, but it helps as much as tramadol does, without the potential opiate dependency.
I hope you find something that does help more.

Jul 13, 2016 12:44 PM

Thank you Fibro. I get the best help from perocette it allows me to function. I have lupus for the record. I'm glad it helps you. I have some left over I may try it again. :)

Jul 13, 2016 1:44 PM

I am in Canada too, and have my med card. I use it for my Psoriatic Arthritis and have learned just how different the strains can be.
Gibber, I'm sorry it hasn't been effective for you but good on you for trying all those ways of ingestion.
My experience has been that Cannabis doesn't dull the pain like those beautifully effective, dangerously seductive Percocets, rather it puts me in the mind frame where I am able to process the pain more effectively.
I'm a Dad of two, so I have been carefully trying to find a decent daytime strain and experimenting with micro dosing.
Fibroat34, from what I have been reading lately, your naturopath is half right. CBD doesn't need THC to be effective but it does aplify the benefits when other Cannabinoids are present. Check out the 'entourage effect'
Sending everyone reading this thread strength. You are not alone.

Jul 13, 2016 1:47 PM

Thank you for the info and sorry you're battling chronic pain too. I hope that you're able to find a good balance that works for you. What part of Canada are you in if you don't mind me asking?

Jul 13, 2016 1:54 PM

I'm in Toronto. There is lots of access to good medicine here.
Where are you?

Jul 13, 2016 1:58 PM

I was born and raised in Kitchener Waterloo an hour from TO. I'm now in crappy Northern Alberta but we hope to move back to Ontario as soon as we can. Being in Toronto do you know of Amy Anon? She's one I got my MM from.

Jul 13, 2016 2:13 PM

I know of her but she is not my source.
If you're interested, I have a Twitter account dedicated to mostly Canadian mmj news and info @medical_mary1eh
It's like a million degrees here today, crappy Northern Alberta sounds like a dream.

Jul 13, 2016 2:18 PM

Got ya. I'll check it out. Oh man yuck on the heat but it's hot here too. NA is anything but a dream unless you mean nightmare. It's a horrible place to live. Calgary or Banff are okay but not the Grande Prairie area. Do you have a FB page because my Twitter account is my business one?

Jul 13, 2016 2:20 PM

I don't have a Fb page. I should but I haven't had the time yet.

Jul 13, 2016 2:21 PM

There's only so many hours in a day lol

Jul 16, 2016 12:41 AM

Hi guys- maybe the cbd is working. I woke up very sore. I doubled up on the cbd chocolate after breakfast... Actually ate quadruple the amount. I felt pretty good all day. I came home around 3 and smoked some cbd oil, felt good through dinner. Only a couple hours after dinner did I start cramping, so I smoked some more oil. Both of these products are very high in cbd and very low in thc, so I don't get hat head high feeling. I basically feel nothing other than no pain. So far it's great- and I hope it keeps working and today was just not a fluke. Will keep you all posted

Jul 16, 2016 3:04 AM

Great to hear these experiences... ⚘sorry to read it didnt help u Gibbers... i am in the UK so its totally illegal here so there is no choice for me between the levels 🌻of thc/cbd... i get whatever im given. I dont get that euphoric feeling at all anymore, but it is really effective for my breakthru pain. 🌸

That being said... i am going on holiday (not been away for 14yrs) to the Canary islands for 2 weeks... so i have been cutting right back 😐because 2 weeks with no breakthru med is gonna tip me over the edge and into the wheelchair again (pain is creeping back hard and spacicity too)

...so i may have to ask for some πŸ’Štramadol for the holiday duration... which sux as i am on high fentanyl patches and high pregabalin already.

Im twitching and shaking more and more as i lower my cannabis intake. And the nausia from the pain is back too... so i cant eat (lost 6lbs since lowering cannabis)... 🐧

I dont get the munchies either cos of nerve damage effecting my torso below diaphram.. so i have no hunger sensation... (or any gastric feelings right down to🐴 excretion) so i dont find eating anything but a chore...

(I have lost an incredible... just over 200lbs/14st/90kg to date and eating goes out the window when the pain increases and the nausia creeps in! :)πŸͺ

Lol im seeing my GP/PCP in another 3 weeks... cant get to see her b4 that at all! But i am decidedly concerned ...cos im no drug smuggler 🐫lol... so wtf am i gonna do.com lol...

ive not worked it out yet... πŸ€” but i dont want to go if im a dribbling mess for 2 weeks... am i being a tit again???? Any ideas?

Anyway... i hope everyone has a good day and can rest and play well for the weekemd! 😚

Jul 16, 2016 3:40 AM

I have tried the oil- just a tiny amount of relief. I'm hoping to get some blunts and try that. Wish me luck. Will report later.

Jul 16, 2016 2:48 PM

It's great that it's working for you guys! How much do you use a day? I was using not even a gram a day because it was all so new to me and I was a bit scared. I also had a couple of rough experiences where it almost sent me into seizures. I have epilepsy. A certain strain can cause seizures ( sativa with higher thc) Indica with high cbd and low or no thc is supposed to help seizures. But the high cbd low thc Indica didn't bring any pain relief. It should have. Maybe I wasn't using enough I don't know?

Jul 17, 2016 12:20 PM

Tinydancer, I am so happy for you that the cbd oil is working for you. It IS legal to purchase in ALL 50 states and does not show uP on drug tests. Most cbd oil that is pharmacy grade doesn't have any THC in it and that's why you don't see it on the tests. I hope it continues to be helpful to you. I've don't much reading about this oil and I DO vape but just regular vaping oils (no nicotine or cbd) and even though they all say it doesn't show up; I'm afraid to try it just in case because I would be dismissed from pain management for taking meds other than prescribe by them. Keep us posted on your progress. Best wishes.{{{Hugs}}}πŸ’•πŸ™πŸ»πŸŒ»πŸ˜Š

Reporting back: I made a cake with the oil and had a few pieces yesterday- my oh my! The pain was gone for the first time in two weeks . Ate the rest of it today and no high but the pain is low still. I call this a win!

Jul 17, 2016 2:07 PM

Awesome!!!! So glad to hear it.πŸ’•πŸ˜

Jul 18, 2016 6:48 AM

Hi guys, i smoke the green weed (with tobacco though). No its not a cure but does help my neuropathic pain and is an escape to. Its still ilegal here so i have to become a criminal to source and use. Criminal in itself really.. i have gone through 4 withdrawals from opiates which was awful and i refuse to become dependent again. However i will use tramodol now and then when pain really tough..

I would rather walk around stoned then like a zombie on opiates waiting to die. Thats how it feels to me..

My partner does not smoke at all but she would rather i used gods green weed then pain meds..

Lets face it the theraputic affect of opiates wears off after time leaving us in an awful addiction cycle. Horrid stuff.. yep its ok for acute pain over a short short period. But no more than that..

Good those of you trying it.. its got to be a better way.

Jul 18, 2016 9:44 AM

I'm a Dad of two in constant chronic pain so I have been trying good daytime strains. Strains that are effective but don't make me stoned out of my mind or locked to the couch. So far my favourite strains are Harlequin and the unfortunately named Durban Poison. I find I am alert and clear headed if I micro-dose with my vaporizer. Night time strains are usually Indicas like OG Kush, King Kush, Purple Kush, or Chemo. These strains have helped me process the pain better and allow me to sleep through the night.
The app Leafly is a fantastic resource to explore. Not only is it a wealth of information but it can help you source medicine specific to your needs.

Jul 18, 2016 9:50 AM

The thing you have to remember is that this type of medicine affects people differently. Some people swear by eating medicated goodies but it's not my cup of tea. Oils, tinctures or topicals could be another option for you. My advice is take it slow, document everything, be patient, and eventually you'll zero in on something that works for you.
No one has ever overdosed on this stuff and that more than we can say for the vast majority of the pharmaceuticals discussed in these threads.

Jul 18, 2016 10:55 AM

I brought up 4 beautiful children... i never smoked infront of them, or rolled up infront of them... they make me so proud.πŸ‘«πŸ‘«

I was a carefull user ...I was not stoned🐧 ...it just controlled my breakthrough pain and so I was able to continue to mother them from my wheelchair!

I would much rather use the green natural herb... than use opioids... unfortunately πŸͺnow im stuck using both! I used to grow very good weed... now i get it delivered.

🍸🍹🍺I dont drink alcohol tho...🐫 i believe cannabis is much better for me than a bottle of wine every day! But then 🍷1/2 a glass of red... 🐴and im anybody,s!!! Pmsl πŸ€—

Jul 26, 2016 10:04 AM

I subscribe to the leafley app and it is very informative. I just ordered pharmaceutical grade cbd oil to either vape or use sublingually. It is legal for medical marijuana here in NY but my pain management office is not certified to prescribe it and I get piss tested every month so I would get kicked out if I tried it. Wish I could. Maybe eventually. In the meanwhile my precious little ferret Mischief keeps me occupied.{{{Hugs}}}πŸ’•πŸ™πŸ»πŸŒ»πŸ˜Š

Fibroat34 where in Canada are you and where do you get it from? I am in BC and just researching and don't know where to look.

Aug 08, 2016 6:27 PM

I have recently tried mj and it helps immensely im pain free for 8 to 10 hours after a few hits

Aug 08, 2016 6:36 PM

@Lulabel, if you're ingesting to much you will feel I'll. On edible products you need to start off with small amounts and figure your dose.

Aug 08, 2016 6:44 PM

@PSACannaDad, looks like you have a good handle on what works for you. I just started using cannabis and looking to leafy for stains and I agree with the information you have posted. Thank you for the information.

Aug 09, 2016 11:31 AM

Lulabel, the CBD oil did nothing for me as well.
