can't stand my hair and under garments

Jun 07, 2016 8:48 AM

I always had very long hair, down to my butt, but I just couldn't stand it anymore touching me! I buzzed it all off! now even when it touches my ears I go crazy! I also can not stand under garments,no more bras or undies for me. I spend hours trying to find clothes that don't hurt,so I end up wearing the same three dresses! I read that fibro has 6 stages and this is the sixth stage. Do other fibro patients experience this? Just wondering if it is true?

Not sure of what you're describing is fibro or not. I have RSD/CRPS and it hurts when things rub against certain areas of my skin. Sometimes just the slightest caress is painful. I have waist length hair and fortunately it doesn't bother me but clothing does hurt me. Some days more than others. I wish that there was something I could tell you that would be helpful but I'm at a loss. I was diagnosed with fibro years ago and The neurologist diagnosed me with RSD after having several nerve conduction studies and other tests. I hope that you are able to find some relief to this pain and find some comfort so that your clothing doesn't drive you crazy with pain.{{{Hugs}}}💕🙏🏻🌻😊

Jaynut, I would suggest you make an appointment as soon as you can. It sounds to me like you're having symptoms other than fibro. I wish you much luck and hope he's able to help you. Thanks so much for the hugs!!💕🙏🏻🌻😊

Jaynut, I've had fibro since 2007. I started having skin sensitivities about 2 years ago. My PCP & rheumy docs say it is not coming from the fibro. For now they're calling it paresthesias, but are watching for changes. My irritation spots seem to be in the natural folds of the skin; waist, elbows, knees, underarms, neck, ears, etc. As for my hair, it's been short since my second cervical fusion surgery in 1995. My family says I cut it before it even touches my ears. And i do because it bugs me! Lol I hope you can find a way to reduce these irritation sensitivities. It can be very annoying.Go see your neurologist, and hopefully they can help. Hugs & prayers! 🙂💕🙏🌼

Jaynut, I accidentally buzz cut and had a Demi Moore "military" cut. My girls were so embarrassed they wouldn't go out with me. And my brother changed my name to a man's name. But when it grew out a little bit I gelled it in spikes! I had women stop me in front of their husbands and compliment me on it. 👍

You sound just like me! So many stares when I cut my hair...had it buzzed for 3 years, people would just stare in the girls bathroom. Don't know anything about stashes of fibro, just sounds like a version of stages of grief to me.
