Cellcept

Nov 11, 2017 3:58 AM

Hey my fellow sufferers, I got a question for you. My rheumatologist just told me to stop taking Imuran because it seems it’s not working any longer and start taking Cellcept in 2 weeks (so that Imuran has a chance to clear out of my system). Does anybody out there has any experance with this drug? Thanks.

It’s also a lupus medication. Suppose to act as anti-inflammatory but the side effects are really worrying me. I was hoping somebody out there has actually tried it and can comment on it. Not that I have all that much choice in taking it or not...unless I develop nasty side effects :(

It can be used as an autoimmune drug. My mom was put on it when she developed hives(It took 2 years before given the drug) and no doctor cold find the reason. After 3 weeks they went away and she has never had them since. The doctor would only give her one week at a time. Also since these drugs cost, I personally tell the doc to prescribe 3 days worth just in case I can not take whatever they want me to try. In one year I saved over 2000$. Just a little trick.

ATanyaR thank you, I thought that the CellCept website would be somewhat helpful, but was a little confused about the use of the medication. I hope that you find the answers that you need.

Zetarlov, thanks for your replay. While I don’t know why it took them so long to dispense your mom’s pills, it appears that CellCept is classified as specialist drug and insurance companies process it through specialist pharmacies only!! The only reason I know that is that is that I just spent few hours recently chasing insurance coverage. I have to say I don’t think your trick will help me much but afterall, my monthly supply is only $9 (after deductables). Thanks again for the reply. Much appreciated.
