Charlie horse?

Nov 11, 2015 9:15 AM

I am sorry if this offends anyone but I have what feels like a charlie horse on my outer hips and buttox area. The pain wraps around to the front of my thighs. It makes it very hard to walk and it is very painful. I have tried having my husband massage my hips and bum, but it didn't help and just made it tender for a while. It has been like this since last night. I just took my lyrica and I am hoping it helps, I was just wondering if there is anything else I can do!

Have you tried to use some moist heat with the shower or heated washcloths or towels and then do gentle stretches to loosen the muscles. If you have a muscle relaxant try that as well by they may make you sleeps. I hope that it helps. Sending {{{Hugs}}} and prayers your way that you feel better soon. 💕🙏🏻🌻

I have tried a heating pad but not moist heat yet. That sounds like a wonderful idea. I will do an epsom salt bath. Thank you!

Have you tried using a rice pack they provide moist heat when put in microwave for about 2 min, you can even throw them in the freezer for cold n packs. They are better than heating pads. Easy to make I use two large washcloths sew up 3 sides pour plain white rice in and sew up . Don't over fill. Hope this helps sending hugs and prayers.

I was having sciatica last week and the thigh muscles were speaking. My Physical therapist had me lay on my opposite side (of painful leg). Then she had me bend my knees on the top leg, and she placed one hand on the small of my back and the other grasped my knee. She gently pulled back on the leg to stretch the muscles, holding to 10, letting go and resting, then repeated 4 times. It worked!

Because I could not get my hubby to do it, I place my foot on a chair and then holding on to the counter top I started to square with the other leg. Only go down to where you just feel the stretch. Hold 10, stop & rest, then repeat. It wasn't as good a stretch as the therapist but it did help some. 🙏🌼
