Hi, has anyone seen a doctor at Stanford for Chiari Malformation 1?

I had a decompression surgery in November of 2014, however many of my symptoms continue and seem to resemble fibromyalgia.

Ask your Dr if you have Syringomyelia I was dx with a Syrinx in 2005. It has characteristics of Fibro I also have it. My Neuro put me on Cymbalta a month ago to take at bedtime. It has made a small
difference in my Fibro, I think it has also helped my Syringomyelia some it hasn't flared since I have been taking it. I'm fixing to find out if it has been helping I took my last dose tonite.

Hi. I know I have a small syrinx between c5-6 and also a small collection of CSF fluid at the base of my brain. But does that mean I would also be diagnosed with syringomyelia?

LUNABELLA3 I believe so, Syringomyelia and Fibromyalgia have a lot in common. I have a hard time telling which one is flaring. I think when one flares so does the other one. My Neuro put me on Cymbalta to help with the Fibro but I think it has helped with the Syringomyelia also.I took my last dose last night, and won't be able to get it until the 4th of October when my husband gets his check. So I will find out how much it really has helped.Lol

Weezie12 regarding medication- have you gone to the website to apply for either a discount card or free Cymbalta? EVERY medication has a drug discount program. Most will offer a discount or free program based on income. It is worth a try especially if this medication is really helping you. The downside is your physician also has to turn in a medically necessary form on your behalf. Most physician's hate filling out paperwork and some charge but I found if you fill it all out and all they have to do is sign it, they will do it and not charge you. Best of luck.
