what are your thoughts on chiropractic for fibro. I am scared of them for personal reasons. But my doctor thinks it will help.

Personally I prefer massage. But it might be worth a try.
However if you go in all tense and afraid it's only going to make the soreness and pain after worse.
I would try to time it so that the pain medication would be starting to work if you take it. If not pop a few advil or Tylenol before you go if able to

Hi Lit. I have been going to a chiropractor for the last month three times a week with acupuncture. I have a back problem that many doctors said to avoid chiropractors for the past three years. I recently was in bad flare with fibro and some other stuff. I got desperate. So I thought I would try a chiropractor that has good ratings by people my husband and his co-workers. I had to fill out questionnaires and did get X-rays. He did not do any treatment until the next visit so he could go over my file because it is complex. I am currently out of flare for past month. I am able to move around amazingly more. Still have a long path ahead. I can tie my shoes, don t need help getting my underwear on or pants. During this time medical doctors were trying different medications that I was reacting to. I still am very fatigued, although it now does not feel my body is fighting itself. I feel like my body's circulation is moving again. This all maybe coincidence or maybe not. I am also doing massage 2-3 times a month. You can ask who you are going to see if premedication with pain medication is ok. My massage therapist told me that I should not take it before massage but after is necessary is ok. Don't know about chiropractic care.
After either treatments I make sure that I take care of myself with a rest or a less active day.
I think Gotobef is right about anxiety of going, let them know about how you are feeling.
I wish you well, Beets

Hi lit... I wanted to try a chiropractor and was turned away after they looked at my X-rays. They are too afraid that they could cause more damage. I wish that I could have tried it but it did scare me and I didn't want them to touch my neck because it's so messed up that if someone hugs me too tight and cracks my neck, it causes me problems for days. So chiropractic adjustment makes me very nervous. I know many that it helps however so perhaps If you go for a consult and feel comfortable, you'll get adjusted and feel better. Sending {{Hugs}} and prayers that you feel better and that if you go, they are able to help you.🌻🙏🏻

I used one until I had an episode of what she called cauda equina, which lasted 5 days. She referred me to a neurologist who referred me to an orthopedist. Then I was referred to a pain specialist, and round and round I've gone for two years. Except none of the other docs want me to see an orthopedist, yet they atop metro saying they can't do anything to help me. I have no more PT and OT left for this year, but come next year I intend to utilize my chiropractor's services. She doesn't touch my fused neck, but she's helped in the past with sciatica, so I'm going whether the others approve or not. I trust her more than I do them at this point. What have I got to lose? Nothing. 🙏🌼
