Chronic pain Fibromyalgia possibly??

Jul 07, 2019 4:46 AM

Hi everyone, I live in Suffolk, UK and am currently undergoing tests for my chronic pain I have been suffering with for the past 8-9 months. They thought it was rheumatoid arthritis but although I have high rheumatoid factor there is no evidence I have that but they talk about fibromyalgia but wont give a definite diagnosis! I have read all about it and I am pretty sure this is what I am dealing with but until I know for sure I cannot be properly medicated! I live on pain killers but nothing really helps! Only thing that seems to help is hot weather! We had a day here a couple of weeks ago when it got to 28 degrees Celsius and I felt the best I had in ages! Dont look forward to the winter!! No one seems to really understand me coz on the outside I seem fine but it's so hard to explain to people how much you're hurting!😒

It could be fibro. A lot of people with fibro any extreme in weather is not good. I like hot better than cold. But there are some people who can't take the heat. Heat might make you feel better. Soak in hot tub with 1-2 cups Epsom Salt. Heating pad or electric blanket. TENS unit might help.

Welcome Butterfly23! I don't have RA but my inflammatory markers are always elevated in my bloodwork when I see my rheumatologist. Typically cold weather has been worse for me, until this year. I have Sjogrens, & fibro & OA that are affected by weather and in the past 10 years cold weather caused worse pain for me. Unfortunately I'm in week #3 of a combo flare up and it's been extremely hot & humid in the Southeastern USA states. I'm also having new symptoms in my hands and fingers which I suspect are some type of arthritis or my Sjogrens. No meds really help in a flare up, but keeping my joints warm with heat pass or gloves helps my hands. I can't do Epsom salt bath soaks but others say they help. Have you tried them? I've reduced my sugar intake (a proven inflammation aggravator) due to my hubby's diabetes and can tell it's helped me feel better in general. Be open to trying various things that might help. Pamper yourself and take it easy on bad days. Taking frequent rest periods between activities also helps with energy fluctuations. Hugs love & prayers you can find ways to relieve your pain! πŸ™‚β€πŸ™πŸŒΌ

Thanks for the advice guys! I'm stuck to know what to do as pain killers dont necessarily work! The doc keeps trying me on different ones but I've yet to find one that suits me! I'm a full time dental nurse and I'm always on my feet and up and down stairs! They have tried to reduce the amount of nursing I do but I'm still doing a lot! Weather here in the uk is pretty good at the moment so i find my symptoms aren't quite so severe. Its good to have contact with people that know what I'm on about! 😊

Butterfly23, try a Paleo lifestyle for foods. Everyone that I know that has fibro eat this way and it makes a world of difference. The example I used to learn with was the Wahls Protocol. Easy to understand book. Processed foods and refined sugars of any types are the pits. Also try to go organic and non GMO.

Thank you zetarlov , that is very helpful. I will certainly look into this as I know certain foods makes it flare up more! My poor stomach doesn't know what's going on!! 😒
