Cold & Cough?

Sep 16, 2015 8:01 AM

My brother in law went to the doctor yesterday to which the doctor said he had only just a cold. About 10:30 PM last night I started having troubles swallowing even the slightest of saliva. My back is in full force pain to the point where I almost can't deal with it and my cough is making my chest (including collar bones) hurt. My gums hurt from my sinuses. I am throwing up anything that goes into my stomach and I feel completely light headed. Does anyone have any home remedies or know any over the counter drugs that will help? I can't go to the doctor because my insurance is inactive until my husband gets back from basic training.

I'd grab some Tonic water. I had a doc at Urgent care once prescribe it after having a "cold" from someone else. I was in bed, vomiting or barely able to move for almost 2 weeks. Tonic water has Quinine, a pain killer and it should also help with hydration.

Rubs Vicks Vaporub into your chest. Delsym cough syrup is good to. If need try honey, lemon and brandy heated on stove top. Take 1-2 tablespoons. I hope you will feel better soon. 🙏🌼

Believe it or not, our family doctor told my Mom years ago when she had her first child and had morning sickness, drink chocolate milk. Now, normally I would say that any dairy with a cold, vomiting, etc. would not be a good idea. From the time I was a child, I drank chocolate milk when I was throwing up and it helped!! I lean more to ginger ale now and find that drinking it slowly and at room temperature it helps. Try some crackers as well. Even if you can only eat one. The most important thing is hydration so even if you throw it up, unfortunately, you need to keep drinking. I hope you feel better soon. It's such a sad thing that your insurance is inactive because your hubby is in basic training. Why did they do that? How are you supposed to get help if you're sick?
