Constant Daily Headaches - 24/7

Jul 01, 2018 10:38 PM

I've had a headache all day every day for the last 3 and a half years. I can't remember the last time I didn't have a headache/wasn't in pain. I've tried just about everything: over time I've taken around 13 different sorts of medicines (preventatives and reactives, hormonal, anti-depressants, etc), but nothing has worked so far - I'm currently on a low dose of Sertraline and take Meloxicam or a Sumatriptan injectable when it gets really bad, but neither of those fully stop it either. I've been bouncing from doctor to doctor, neurologist to neurologist. Went to a headache specialist down at Children's Hospital for a while (I'm only 18 and this started when I was 15), but they gave up after about a year and a half of nothing working.
I've tried non-medical techniques too: chiropractor, accupuncture, massage therapy, physical therapy, pain management specialists. No luck there either...
It started as just a bad headache, then it came back a couple times a week, and now I'm living with it constantly. I got an MRI done right at the beginning of all of this, so I know it's not life-threatening, but I'm desperate for a way to get rid of it...anyone suffering from something similar with some tips on how they deal?

There is one thing you have not mentioned in the list of tests. Have you had your eyes checked?
Also, tension from pain elsewhere can cause headaches or exacerbate headaches, how about relaxation techniques and head and neck massages?

I had migraines that weren't helped by medications. It was only when we changed our lights from the CFL light bulbs back to incandescent lights, that my migraines finally stopped,

Has a neurologist done a complete work up? My concern is cluster headaches or trigeminal nerve headaches. Both are totally excruciating

Yeah, had my eyes tested (I wear glasses, and they thought maybe the prescription was too high? They changed it though and it did nothing), we tried changing lightbulbs. I had an appointment with my new neurologist about a week ago, but it's too early for him to be able to conclude anything yet. I would love any help I can get, though I don't know if provate messages are possible on here...
