constant pain in left foot

Jun 14, 2015 3:16 PM

For the last month I have had pain in my left foot and it gets worse when I walk. The pain stay's at the bottom and sometimes it goes up the leg some. Anyone know what this could be from? I'm not diabetic.

MoparMom Have you been checked for neuropathy? It doesn't have to be caused by diabetes,it can be caused by nerve damage in your leg and foot. I just had EMG'S done on both of my arms thankfully there was nerve damage yet, but the Syrinx inside my spinal cord will eventually cause it pressing on all the nerves constantly. Do you have a Neurologist to see?

Moparmom, you could be dealing with plantar fasciitis. It's happens when you wear shoes that do not support your feet properly, standing too much and/or walking barefoot a lot. I would have the doctor check it out. Did you suffer a prior injury? You should also be checked for neuropathy. I hope you feel better soon. All the best.

Moparmom, I had to get special fit orthotics because my feet have changed and the regular shoe inserts were not fitting or supporting properly. Go see the orthopedic specialist. They can check for the plantar fascitis also. 🙏🌼

You show in your pain diagram severe low back pain, is that a result of pinched nerve(s) or is it possible you have a pinched nerve?

Pinched or damaged nerves in the lumbar region (most common is the sciatic nerve root) often results in pain in the feet and without some of the typical sciatica pains down the back of the leg associated with it.

The sciatic nerve root is about the diameter of your small finger and carries a bundle of nerves that go down throughout your legs and feet. Irritation of that nerve root in the lumbar region of your back can cause pain in other regions of your body. If the sciatic nerve root is being irritated for whatever reason, the pain is more commonly down the back of the buttock and back of the thigh but there can also be pain down in the lower part of the leg and the feet. These lower region pains can occur without the pains being felt up higher in the leg or any pain in the back.

Hello Struggling, I do have a pinched nerve and I also have several herniated and or bulging disc's in my lower back. I have had problems with my sciatic acting up before, but not when my foot pain has been active. The pain shoots from the bottom of my left foot up part way to my leg.

Moparmom, it may be from a different nerve than the sciatic. I also have the disc issues, and I get nerve pain & tingling in my feet. Struggling's description is one of the best I've heard yet. She's right about it possibly being from your discs. Most orthopedists can examine and treat, or refer you to a neurologist. A few I've seen don't like referring out because it means they couldn't do their job. Lol

I hope you get answers soon! 🙏🌼
