Contenpmating surgery

Well I got a Cortisone shot for my right wrist today. (i fell at work and SEVERELY sprained it and cracked the bone in a year & a half ago). This is #3 cortisone shot. If this doesn't "work" I get one more in the side of my wrist ( this one & others were in the top wrist ). Last time I had a shot in the side of my wrist, I kicked the doctor (NOT on purpose-pain/reflex) and I was in AGONY for days. Like I have panic attacks about new cortisone shots!! But the last 2 were bad but NOT terrible so I'm getting calmer about them. I am NOT looking forward to a shot in the side wrist- there is no room for the fluid and since I have an inflammatory response to cortisone, it's MUCH worse for me 😩

If the side shot (4th cortisone shot over all) doesn't work then the doc wants to talk surgery. ... I had surgery on my left wrist years ago- and that is what started the CRPS/RSD chain (injury or surgery no one knows but the pain post surgery was waaaay worse!)
This would be the exact same surgery 😞 since both wrists were injured in the same area. I don't like another surgical option.

I need 3 things to happen before considering surgery- consult w my pain management doc to see if this is pain from my CRPS/RSD or if it's a "real" issue needing surgery. #2 a MRI that shows a tear that needs fixing. We need a reason for surgery! Exploratory surgery is not a good option for me!! #3 a 2nd opinion from other ortho. I LOVE my current ortho buyout, he did my 1st left wrist surgery and found nothing. Another doc did the 22nd surgery that fixed years but caused nerve damage. In not sure I want either to operate again!!! The 2nd doc was one of the top 2 hand docs for several states... So the other is top hand doc is much further away 😞 it will mean 2hrs+ travel to appointments...that's a lot of time off work. Its workers comp but my work fights every appointment. They've refused to credit my leave 95% of the time 👿

So- I'm needing EXTRA good thoughts to get this wrist on track. I do NOT want wrist surgery!!! (unless they can really fix it). Even if they can fix it, I do not want to deal with work and requesting time off. I know they have to honor it - they just fight and make it so hard! It makes it too frustrating and painful 😩😢😩

Gardener, getting a second or even third opinion is always a good thing. I wish I had done so in 2007 when an Ortho convinced me that removing a broken sesamoid bone was the right thing to do. I've had foot problems ever since, and get second opinions any time a doc mentioned surgery. I'm sorry for all you are going through. You'll be in my thoughts & prayers. Hugs!! 🙂💕🙏🌼
