Coping with work/social

Hi I am new to the community,
Recently i have struggled much more at work or generally leaving the house due to pain or so I've been told the fear of being in pain. I've had chronic pain for around 4 years now. Ive had both my legs reconstructed to be re-allingned and recently had alot of metal work removed. The recovery is taking much longer then I'd of expected though. I have to wear saftey shoes for work which only make this pain even worse and leave my feet very bruised. I've been taking tramadol for the most part of 3 years but have been put on many other forms of pain killers (morphine/naproxen/diazepam/codein/amitriptyline) The doctors want to trial me on gabbapenten but I've heard very mixed things -has anyone else tried this? My mum suffers from fibromyalgia which I also think I have but my doctors stress it is hard to diagnose at a young age. The doctors now do not know why my pain is so bad so it is quite frustrating as I dont know or dont yet have an official diagnosis. Anyone else in a similar situation?

Welcome HollieJade02 to the community! I have fibro, DDD, OA everywhere including my spine. I tried gabapentin but it did nothing for me. Everyone is different and it does help some people. Have you tried heat for your pain? Soaking in a warm tub with 1-2 cups of Epsom salt, heating pad, electric blanket. TENS unit helps some people. Hope this helps.

Welcome to the community HollieJade02! I have fibromyalgia, Sjogrens, and many other issues including neuropathy due to spinal issues. I've been on gabapentin for about 8 years. I am super sensitive to many medication's and have a long list of allergies, mostly pain meds and psych meds. Due to my sensitivity I can only take a low dose of gabapentin; 400-600 mg a day, without having major issues. Both my sister's who also have fibromyalgia take 1800mg/day or more. One sister couldn't take Lyrica, but I have never tried it. I do well on 400mg/day but I do notice when I take more for flares (up to 1000+ mg/day, I'm either over sedated & sleepy/lethargic, or I suffer worse mental function abilities. Everyone is different, and most of us have found what works through trial & error. Hugs love & prayers you can find answers for your pain and ways to help you get relief and cope better! 🙂❤🙏🌼

Welcome to our community! I too am on Gabapentin for peripheral Neuropathy, stenosis, DDD AS OA etc all spinal and extremity pain. It works for me. I’m on 800 mg 3 times per day. At first it made me feel a little light headed and I had an occasional headache. Little by little the symptoms disappeared. It does seem to help with the nerve pain I have although there are times I have “break through pain.” Everyone is different so your experience may be different from mine. Holliejade02 I hate those safety shoes to. I’ve had to wear them in the past and they now sit in the back of my closet. It took doctors 34 years before they really narrowed down what all was causing me my pain. Fibromyalgia was the first diagnosis they gave me and over the years many tests etc I’ve had numerous new diagnosis. A really evolving journey that still is developing. Basically my spine is falling apart and my nervous system is kaputz! Who would of thought that with close to 40 years of chronic pain. Lol. I hope you will soon have some real
