Could endo be genetic?

Sep 19, 2015 8:09 PM

Sorry guys, don't want to beat this topic to death. I just have so many questions floating around and it seems like nobody can answer them. Recently given a tentative diagnosis of endometriosis on Friday morning. Have been suspecting it for at least 8 months or longer. Odly enough, while I was talking to my cousin this evening, she has a diagnosis of endo, and we really suspect my paternal grandmother had it but never diagnosed. Could this be the case? The reason I am turning to you guys is that my doctor only gave me basic information, but the questions came up after the fact. I'm just totally lost I'm not quite sure what way to go. Help! Please?

Amanda, I was told by my doc, like most other chronic issues, it is genetic. 🙏🌼

It is usually from your dad's mom

Zeta, we suspect that my dad's mom does have it although it was never diagnosed. Thanks guys, the help again has been invaluable as always.

My mom had it, and I also have it.

Thanks Amie, much appreciated. Amie, when you first got diagnosed, did you have issues sleeping? The reason I ask is that for about the past week or so, the pain has been intense and has interefered with sleep. I'm normally a left side sleeper but that's where the pain is, so I find myself tossing and turning just to get comfortable.
