Counting down

Dec 09, 2015 8:41 AM

Performance day is today, and I'm excited, and terrified! Our board game looks pretty epic, but wow stress sucks. I love when people come in and go "ooh, aah..." because I realize how little of a clue they have of how much work we put into our projects.
5 weeks, and you see the good and bad side of everyone. Some people pull through when everything goes wrong, there's the crying and fear every year especially for those of us with social anxiety, which is ironically a pretty big part of my school. People come in crying, screaming, and break ups happen, much of this a day or so before performance.
I've been in that group, with the public, so I'm now proud of what happens behind the scenes, the planning and replanning and arrangement of where everything will be, trying to find a good spot to present for everyone.
I'll be presenting today, and I'm stressed, but the time is so much shorter than, say tests. Several hours, instead of several full school days, or weeks. Plus, after Friday, there's break...

Everyone has some type od social anxiety. The only difference is how well they fake it. You know that we all feel that you are very interesting, intelligent and wise beyond your years. You will be fine. Keep telling yourself you are just telling a story to your best friend and push garbage thoughts out of your way (and out of your brain).

Thanks always and LMB. I'm currently caffenated, and nearly ready to go. Have a last few changes for my game, presented this morning and it went okay, not sure if I have a flu or just stress, but I'm definitely feeling feverish, and having a leg numbing flare.

The good young about right now is school is keeping some of the family issues of of my head. Yeah, my school definitely deals with social anxiety, and some people are simply better at hiding it than others. I guess in the past year, I just realized that some people look fine but then puke before a performance, but still somehow make it. I'll just get really tense and talk fast, but after a while it'll all blend and I'll be fine.
