Oct 08, 2015 10:15 AM

Hi I'm new to this app and was looking to see if anyone has or had similar discomfort as me.i had decompression and fusion surgery in my neck 5 weeks ago on the c6-c7.ever since the op I've had problems with yawning.like having something stuck in my throat and swallowing just after.it only lasts for a few seconds but is really strange and doesn't feel right.this is also around the scar area.

I know there are people on here with similar pain, and have gone through surgeries.

Sorry I'm just catching up where I was offline most of the past two weeks. Welcome Dudek! I've have cervical fusions twice. The first was on C6-7 in 1992, then C4-6 with a titanium plate and screws in 1995. I've not had any problems until the past three years. It's mostly been cervicogenic headaches, but I have felt like sometimes things get stuck, or somethings pushing the wrong way as I swallow. I've had multiple xrays & MRIs, and the fusions are solid, so there's no way they are the cause. The C2-3 & C7-T1 discs are collapsing and they may be part of it. Also, a few months ago I was diagnosed (dx) with Sjogrens, with severe dryness to my eyes, nose, mouth, and throat. The doc said that may be what's causing a "stuck" feeling. I think you should call your doc and have an X-ray, just to be sure nothing's moved. Good luck! (((Hugs))) & a prayer! 🙏🌼
