Defining sanity

Jun 08, 2015 12:47 AM

I'm thinking about what could be considered sane or not because of my dad and stepmom divorcing.
My family and grandma were talking, and it's seeming more and more likely that my stepmom is the person who broke into the house a year ago.
She claimed her wedding ring was stolen, but we found it with her sacred objects.
My dad got called and she was convinced my sister had done it.
When I got home from school, she claimed to have seen a man with a hoodie.
She said he got scared by her.
At the same time, she was unpacking a bank pack of valuables, "I'm putting the house back together."
The odd thing is that some worthless items were stolen.
My dad's coin from the grandma that died on his 16th birthday, my favorite hat, and several gifts from my mom had all disappeared.
There were also some random pieces of broccoli that she knew about, but it was a mystery to the rest of my family.

When my dad got called, my stepmom claimed that my sister (who was late hanging out with friends, and had no key) got angry at my stepmom and had destroyed the house.
However, my sister's room was much worse off.

I don't know.

Ferretbandit, Your stepmom obviously has some problems. I don't know if it's a Smitty issue or not. She could be like one of our friends ex wife, who staged burglaries often. Either she or people she knew were constantly breaking in and taking valuables and destroying other items from his home. He couldn't prove it, that she was involved, because she never had anything of his in her home. But he had certain hiding places that only she knew about. She was devious.

Try not to worry and stress too much. I know it's easier said than done, but when you find you're stressed go do something relaxing to get your mind off of it. (((Hugs))) & prayers! 🙏🌼

Yes, ferret, it does seem wise to question her sanity. It sounds like she really is not trying to steal anything by what you said nothing really seems to be that valuable. But it seems like she has an agenda. Sounds like she is trying to accomplish something no matter how insane it may be. I hope your family is taking the divorce well in light of the way she is acting. I hope that she mean to you while she lived with you. That sounds odd to say. But I figured you didn't need problems like that on top of your pain. I hope you are feeling as well as you can ferret. Take care.

If she filed a fake police report that is a crime.

LMB, the problem is that she lived with us and unless we can prove which wedding ring was found in a box, there's no evidence at all.
She doesn't seem to realize what she's doing.

Wow...if only you could put video recorders in the house to catch her. I would guess that's expensive tho. I would also guess that she is either a sociopath or has a mental illness. I say a possible mental illness because you say she doesn't seem to realize what she is doing. Stress can definitely cause certain mental illnesses to manifest. Regardless, she sounds like she needs therapy. I feel so bad that you are going through all this.

Nanny cam! Small pinhole cameras or even a pen camera. They are not expensive. I have one that looks like a highlighter.
