Degenerative Disc D/O

May 18, 2015 6:48 PM

Hi all, I just found this community and I'm excited to find all of your help!

I was diagnosed with DDO about a year or two ago. I was told I had six herniated discs. They tried pain medicine, therapy, TENS... finally the doctor said I would just have to wait for it to get worse before he would do surgery.

My question is: how do I handle a chronic pain disorder? I take Ibuprofen, but on intense pain days, it does little to nothing.

Mnels, I'm sorry for your pain. I have had neck disc surgery twice, and above discs are now bulging causing pain, but they can't do it due to risks of paralyzing my talking or swallowing. I also have DDD and osteoarthritis all the way to my a in the SI joints. I take Tylenol arthritis or Tramadol, and use voltaren gel, ice, heat and a Tens unit. Your doctor should have given you some medicine or referred you to a pain specialist.
