Denied SSD again!

Oct 27, 2016 8:01 AM

So I got the denial letter stating that I can stand all day for a job....I can't syand OR walk for more than 10 minutes withput collapsing. Nor can I sit in a chair for a length of ti e without my back locking up. I fall to the right all the time and get vertigo and lightheaded easily where it feels lime I will faint but I talk myself out of it ALL the time. So now I have to appeal this invisible illness that I have no formal dx of. I see a new doctor in a few weeks then a neurosurgeon a few days later. I woke up very depressed and the only thing keeping me up and going is taking care of my daughter. My pain is strong now as my adrenaline mode is slowing down. Headache galore. So off to battle the system like soooooo many do! I dread this!

I've been denied too. Going for my second try here soon. I'm told that because of how complex the SSD system is, you should get some type of legal representative to help you get it. I've seen commercials for this, tho I'm checking of there's free or discounted ones for me too

Is this your first time trying for disability? First attempts are almost always denied. :( I consulted an attorney after the first denial and although he said I really didn't need an attorney unless I got denied a second time he walked me through how to appeal and gave me suggestions on other things to do. If you are interested in what he has me do I will gladly share. My appeal was granted.

Oh one other thing.. Do you have copies of the letters your doctors filled out? If not get copies. Its possible your doctor might not have been accurate in the forms. For me, one doctors form had been "misplaced" so they really didn't have a clear picture. I have learned that happens too often so it's important for you to keep copies of everything you send in..

Thanks Mimikay! I may be asking you future questions. This is my 2nd denial. Copies of Dr.s letters is something I hadn't thought of. I'm usually pretty good at getting records, copies of MRIs, reports etc. And when I tell thedrs. about excruciating shin/bone pain where it's almost impossible to walk, I get looked at like I'm nuts. So frustrating to say the least. Camelsnake, I wish you the best too!

Good Luck QuietLight! I can't file for mine because I was short insurance credits! I had all my work credits but was just shy of my insurance credits. So I had no choice but to go back to work but ended up having to leave just a month later because it was making my back worse and destroyed the progress my pain management doctor did to it just a month earlier.

That's insane Sjogrenspain77! It's a battle when you aren't legally blind or literally dying. I'm not sure what to do because the smallest things like washing dishes to standing or sitting too long lock me up, exhaust me or when standing or walking for more than 10 minutes cause my shins to feel like I'm being hit with a baseball bat, let alone daily headaches. Bah!

Oct 27, 2016 11:59 AM

That's the way it is with my back, I can't sit or stand for more than 10 mins at a time. And when I walk around, my back is in major pains. I walked a mile with my kids and and I paid for it in a big way but I still put myself through it, I guess it's because they are almost 15 & 16 years old and before I know it they will be out of my house and living on thier own going to college. Bahaha makes me feel old lol!

I hear you! Boy do I hear you!

Oct 27, 2016 12:36 PM

What is insurance credit? Is that something new?

Oct 27, 2016 3:19 PM

I was denied 2 times and then when I went to talk to the judge then I was approved. This is pretty typical here in California.

Oct 27, 2016 8:34 PM

So sorry to hear you received another denial. Wouldn't it be interesting if they sent someone to spend the entire day with you so they could SEE with their own eyes that you actually can't do what you're telling them you can?? I hope you manage to get it resolved along with everyone else who is still waiting. {{{Hugs}}}💕

Sorry to hear. Don't give up. <3

Don't give up I was denied 2 times and finally after getting a lawyer, I was approved! I didn't have to pay my lawyer anything out of pocket however she did get a nice chunk out of my back pay but it was well worth it! Make sure you make all your doctors appointments that's a very important key. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia 6 years ago and last year I was diagnosed with Lupus, I'm 32 years old and I hardly get around and it just gets worst! So I know how you feel and trying to prove to someone how you feel is hard that's why you need a lawyer, I didn't have to do anything but show up to hearing,y lawyer did all the talking and answering questions based on my medical records, and I forgot to mention I had a stroke in 2012 afterwards being overdosed by the hospital..... I wish you the best if luck just don't give up!

I have Fibromyalgia, degenerative disc disease of lumbar and sacral regions of spine. Osteoarthritis in hips/knees; venis stasis in both legs;restrictive lung disease, copd and obstructive sleep apnea. I applied for SSDI, Ohio res., in April. Was approved in June. First time. I think why I got approved first time was I had copies of ALL my medical records for last 10 years. Scanned everything, put on CD rom disc and submitted with application. Took me 7 hours to fill app out.Having medical documents are most important. Good luck.

After reading the denial letter it appears they did not get the medical file from my drs. Office so I will be appealing after I see the new doctor I am switching to, recommended by my therapist. She feels I need to fight for this and since I have 60 days to appeal, I also see a neurosurgeon a few days after the new doctor. From there I will get new results. I have copies of all my MRIs and some records etc. My previous dr isn't all together and I don't trust her judgment. Crossing my fingers

How stressful ... Lack of professionalism astounds me. Glad to hear you can appeal and have new Drs lined up.

It's so stressful I totally understand, my final appeal is next month .. i had a weak dr and not sending paperwork last time delayed my appeal ...

Fingers crossed ...

I have my disability hearing on the 9th to determine my final eligibility. I've had a lawyer since my second attemp. It's been nearly three years and I was denied twice before being granted an appeal... I take 21 medications which is 43 pills a day and most of my body systems are affected but, due to my age they didn't take me seriously. I've lost EVERYTHING.

Oct 31, 2016 6:30 AM

QuietLight I will keep my fingers crossed for you and am sending positive vibes and good karma your way!!!
Samantha, yours will well. The 9th is my birthday so it will be a GOOD day and a positive result. Sending positive vibes and good karma your way as well 💕

Keep telling the doctor everything. Document it with the doctor. All doctors. Get lawyer. 3rd time you will get a hearing before a judge. I just had mine last week. Disabled since Jan 2011. It usually takes years unless you loose a limb are in a wheelchair or have butt cancer. I haven't worked since 2010. Lived in poverty for 5 years. Not to mention the pain. It's a marathon.
