Dental work hurts!

Feb 29, 2016 7:22 PM

Had my follow up at the dentist to get the old (bad) crown removed and a mold formed to make the new one. Remember, they permanently glued it back at my last visit because it kept popping off (5x). They tried to pry it loose but it was a no go. Two shots later they tried to pull it off... No go. So they started drilling, actually cutting it in half to remove it. Once he got the old crown off he drilled away some of the tooth root, so the new crown has more depth to be set in. After that the molds were made, then a temp crown was placed. It was over at 2:30 PM, and now at 8:15 PM & my whole jaw is throbbing, again like last time. Ugh! I sure hope this isn't going to happen every time I have dental work done!! I never use to hurt, except when my wisdom teeth were cut out of course. And of course I didn't have fibro & sjogrens & TMJ. I have a grepping I'll be taking stronger pain meds tonight. Wishing everyone a good night with as little pain &/or insomnia as possible! πŸ™‚πŸ’•πŸ™

I think they had my mouth open so long the left TM joint is out of place. It hurts to open wide now.

Well let's hope we all feel better tomorrow!

Not sure if this will help you but it seems to for me; since sjΓΆgrens, I have had sooo much dental work, despite all my extra efforts to keep my mouth moist with rinses, meds, extra cleanings and biotene. I had to start taking a pain pill effort work is done now, and I also ask for a dental prop. That way I don't have to hold my mouth open. It helps a lot with the jaw pain. Then I stay ahead of the pain with more pain meads and rest when the numbness first starts wearing off.

Flappsy, I am so sorry that you are In such pain from the dental work. I have no doubt that it aggregated the TMJ and that's why you hurt so bad. I know you are probably using ice and it's the best thing right now. Sending you lots of love, gentle {{{{Hugs}}}} and prayers that this pain subsides quickly. Be well my friend.πŸ’•πŸ™πŸ»πŸŒ»

Flappys, I'm so sorry you are hurting. Gentle hugs. Sleepingbeauty, I didn't even think to ask my dentist for a bite block. Wonderful idea. Thank you.

They used a bite block when they pulled the cracked tooth. I guessed it would have been in the way this time. It feels some better today, and thankfully I'm not bruised this time! πŸ™ Thanks for the med suggestions Sleepingbeauty. I think I've had sjogrens for many years, due to AOL the things my body has been going through, and now knowing about the symptoms. πŸ™‚πŸ’•πŸ™πŸŒΌ
