Disability and Fibro?

May 01, 2017 11:42 AM

I am honestly considering attempting to get on disability for my fibro. It may literally be my only chance at getting treatment if I do not get approved for health insurance through the state. It just sucks. I never wanted this. I never wanted any of this.

If you are currently on disability for fibro, how did you go about it? How long did it take?

I've just recently begun my appeals process. I don't have fibro, but I've been told to expect a 9-12 month process.

Best of luck!

I tried for it and was rejected. I was told I takes about 3 times of trying and then you need to get a lawyer.

It was easy for me. I was put off work from it. Their insurance was paying for it. So, that insurance company got me on state disability

Thank you everyone. I'm just at the point where I am literally making myself sicker by working. Like. I vomit due to pain during most of my shifts.

I faught alone for 10 years a year ago when 2 years ago I had my accident at work that's when every thing started up.. I was diagnosed in sept I now have a lawyer on my case we had 4 nos now there taking me to court not sure date!!! Its living hell it takes u til your death bed to get it do when u pass money goes right back to state they don't care do u have to and u have to push and dig and get goooid lawyer, I been ready give up for years especially where I been over part year, I physically cannot work they denied me a paragraph stating that I have many health issues these can be helped with medication with time. Then sentence below stated " we are denying your claim cuz you can understand what ur being told, you can follow and understand directions, there for u can work no problem " denied now I wait for court date ... I'm praying cuz I have not often a date yet don't give up...

When they denied me they said "we understand that you are in pain but don't feel it qualifies enough for disability." Hmmmm. How do they understand how much pain I'm in????

I had several diagnosis but the whole process took 3 1/2 years. I started with an attorney and had a few appeals before I ever saw a judge. It sucks because the entire time I had no income or insurance which makes it even harder to prove your case because every doctor visit I had was cash only.
