Disability Hearing

Feb 23, 2016 5:46 PM

Hey everyone I need a lot of praying and any advice that anyone can give me. My hearing for disability is next week. For those who might not know.... I have Sjögren's syndrome, fibromyalgia, severe depression and anxiety. I don't have a thyroid anymore due to thyroid cancer. I also have severe issues with my stomach, back and knees but need further testing. I'm suppose to see 9 specialists but can't due to no insurance. So for anyone that has gone thru the hearing process especially my Sjögren's syndrome friends I could use any advice I can get. For me it about the insurance and here in North Carolina you still have to be disabled to get Medicaid. And Obamacare doesn't help unemployed either in this state. I'm getting a lot of anxiety and stress which is taking a toll on me when I already hurt enough as it is.

Hi painedlady, My primary conditions are RA, fibromyalgia, small fiber peripheral neuropathy that involves my entire body. I also have secondary issues (i won't bore with the long list) including sjögrens, so I'm a little familiar with the struggle you deal with and I'm sorry dear. I hope all goes in your favor during your hearing. I will say a prayer for you. Let us know how it turns out.

Hi Painlady!! I'm still awaiting a hearing date, I have been off work since 5/2014 and probably haven't had a full 4 weeks in that time where I was not at the doctor or receiving treatment of some sort. I have worked in the medical field since 1987 so when I read that you are currently without insurance I wanted to tell you to reach out to your public health office in your county in which you live. Some health departments have primary care but if your health department isn't one of them, try to google federally qualified health centers. These are clinics that offer sliding scale medical treatment. You will need to provide household income information but you should be able to get help from a clinic such as this. I wish you all the best!!

Thank you Kelly, my mom is a registered nurse. Primary care isn't the problem it's specialists I need to see. And the doctors based on income are the worst all they do is write me off to a specialist they know I can't see.
