Disability update

Jul 27, 2016 5:35 PM

I haven't posted in awhile but I have been keeping up reading posts. Well I didn't get my disability because my lawyers did not send in the proper medical records, they didn't even have down that I have SjΓΆgren's syndrome, fibromyalgia, 3 herniated disks, osteoarthritis, stomach issues, depression, anxiety, hypothyroidism, and knee problems. So now they have to submit the proper papers but it does not mean they will respond back as fast as I need them to. So that meant no insurance for me still, but I will say when one door closes the Lord opened another door. The pharmacy where I get most of my meds for free they told me back in January they wouldn't be able to get my Plaquenil for me. I just happen to ask them again and they said they just got a grant and can get it for me. They gave me 100days worth that is $700 at the cheapest pharmacy price. I am so glad that I can finally treat this Sjorgens syndrome. I also found a better Doctor that's based on income where I only have to pay $20 per visit and yes they will fill out my disability papers for me. I didn't get the Lupron shot cause I saw on here where one of our group friend is on it and said its chemotherapy, so I asked my doctor and she said its not a chemotherapy drug but it put people in early menopause and I could have hot flashes and etc. We decided that we will just keep me on the depo shot cause of everything else that's going on. Even though I have gained 60 lbs since the beginning of the year but I'm on several meds that cause weight gain. Still not getting help with any pain meds though, with this weight my knees make it so hard to walk and I have back spasms every night. I can't get into pain management with no insurance. Hopefully this new doctor will give me some help. I just want everyone to keep lifted in prayer and I will continue to keep all you guys lifted in prayer always.

P.S. I did read that Lupron was a chemotherapy drug in my research so I didn't want to argue with the doctor bout it that's why we decided to stay with the depo. I don't how I left this all out.

Hey painlady sorry to hear about you disability however I'm sure you will get it and all will work out. Not sure if it was my post or not. But I'm on lupron just started it one week in. The information I received and found myself says it falls under low level chemotherapy. But I suppose that's the medical world for ya. However, I can say so far it's lived up to most of the horrible stuff they say about. Regardless what u call you it. I've already gained 10 lbs and I'm suoer bloated. I just hold to the hopes that it will also do the good stuff and shrink my tumors. I understand your choice to not do it I've been running from it for a year but kind of had no other choice. I hope you have excellent progress with the Dr and they help you with your pain.

Painedlady, you have been missed!! What an absolute nightmare for you that the lawyer wasn't bright enough to send in the proper paperwork. If be fit to be tied and I'd tell him he's only going to get part of his payment because he screwed up. I wish I could fix it for you. I'll keep you I. My prayers {{{Hugs}}}πŸ’•πŸ™πŸ»πŸŒ»πŸ˜Š

Painedlady, I'm sorry to hear about the lawyers screw up costing you a delay. It's good the pharmacy has the grant to help you with the plaquenil. I'm on it for sjogrens too, so I know how important that is. Hugs love & prayers there won't be too long of a delay in getting your approval...it's coming! πŸ™‚πŸ’•πŸ™πŸŒΈ

So sorry to hear!! That is beyond frustrsting!! Regarding Lupton have you ever checked out Nancy's Nook Endometriosis on Facebook? There are some super knowledgeable people there, many with sad stories about Lupron :( the folks on the site are very helpful, even if Endometriosis isn't your diagnosis. If you are even considering Lupron, check out their site. If you are other questions they might be able to help too.

Yes Newfibrogirl, it was your post on the the Lupron shot. Even though Depo shot is making me gain weight it's what I decided to stick with. In the beginning I had to get a depo shot once every 2 weeks to stop the bleeding. But the last 2 times they were 3 months apart. So now I'm having a lot of cramping so she said we might need to try every 2 months. Hopefully I can get Medicaid and just get a hysterectomy done.

The shots are definitely not fun. I'll get my next one in three weeks. It's taken me for a loop. I've got a strong family connection with cancer currently my dad so mine has chemo and a steroid added. Have u experience any highs? Like super hyper moments? The ones I've had are epic. But when they are over they slam u to the ground. How have u been dealing with it.

In the strictest sense of the word, all medications are chemotherapy. However, Lupron is not a cytotoxic 'chemo' drug like what is used for cancer. Lupron is a medication (chemical) used to suppress ovarian function and thereby induce early menopause. This many be necessary for many different medical conditions or to enhance certain treatments. Hope that helps.

I think I will just stick with depo shot till I get my hysterectomy. I have too many health issues that I'm already not being treated for due to lack of insurance. So even though the depo has added weight, I don't want to go into early menopause. My doctor agreed cause it would be too much on me.
