Do they listen or just push pills?

Jan 26, 2015 1:23 PM

I've been going to the same pain doctor for 18 years and he did everything he could for several years before putting me on pain meds. He still listens and we work together in cutting/changing my meds when they are ineffective.

Migraines, Funny you asked that today. I returned to an old doctor (psych) I saw 15 years ago, today. He listened very well and explained many things other doctors wouldn't. He even said one doctor was incorrect in recommending SSRI antidepressants for me, since my history shows I react badly to them. He also agrees with me, there may be more to my irregular thyroid ultrasound than just "scarring in a past flare-up" like my PCP says, since I exhibit a lot of thyroid symptoms. Yes, some doctors are pill pushers that treat everyone like cattle in a branding pen. And yes, there are other doctors who are caring, who listen, and who treat each individual separate. My advice, seek a second or third opinion, until you find one you're comfortable with.
